Added yet another L/LM ball, The Masterpiece...
« on: June 14, 2007, 07:31:52 AM »
Just purchased the Masterpiece today from my ball driller Mike Miller.  I will post a review later on after I get a chance to roll a few games tonight.

Enclosed are some actual pictures:

Be ready to polish it, this ball is one of the strongest resin's i have ever owned, i finally had to go 2000 and high gloss to get the look i wanted on mediums.

I think a pin down with a x-hole in the thumb quad with a 1000 surface would hook with about anything made

How do you think it compares to the Black Pearl?  Also, I edited the topic to include actual pictures.

BP is particle and the MP is reactive ... apples and oranges again if you're comparing. That being said, many have posted and will agree that the MP is their strongest pearl reactive to date, and handles more oil than you'd think it would. REMEMBER, these covers REALLY take to adjustments and are durable beyond belief.

As Mr. bowlingnut said, the MP is bizarrely strong. I had to both put the pin above the finger (a rarity for me) and to use Trizact to sand it to 2000 grit (sandpaper hardly effected the coverstock) and to re-polish it to get it to handle medium oil.

I had to change the cover of the Black Pearl to 1500 grit (using Track's Clean and Smooth) to get it to handle medium to medium-heavy oil.

I'm not saying you'll have to do the same thing, but that's what I had to do to get both to work for me.

Got rid of the BP; kept the MP. (many do like the BP; just not I.)

I haven't done a direct comparison, but BTM indicated it handled more oil than a WCR, but not by a large margin. The WCR is also a relativley early rolling ball for such a highly polished ball.
