Black Diamond
« on: June 21, 2009, 01:19:32 AM »
I drilled my Black Diamond up on Thursday at Nationals but could not throw it until yesterday.  It does everything that Lane Masters says it will. The ball is similar to the Black Pearl but it is stronger at the break point and has an excellent continuation through the pin deck.  The Black Diamond definitely needs a fair amount of oil or a lot of speed.  I had to tone my ball down with a 2000 Abralon pad which I applied by hand and that seemed to work for me much better than the out of box finish.

It will be interesting to see what else they come up after Bowl Expo this week.  Hopefully they will be able to keep up with the demands they will have in a timely manner.  The new equipment that they have coming out seems to fill just about every hole in a bowlers arsenal.

I personally think it may be a wise investment to stock up on Black Pearls which has been their best ball ever just in case they decide to discontinue it also.

What's the Black Diamond? Did it just come out? If so do you have any pics? I currently have the Terminator, Terminator Rebellion, and I'm about to pick up a Dynamic Power. I only know of two new products from Lane Masters, the Solid Strike, and the Buzz Attack. Please I'm begging you if you have info on new products, as well as what conditions there for. PLEASE POST INFO!!

Do you have any idea when these balls are to be released? I intended to buy the (Dynamic Power) in 4 weeks or so, that's when we bowl on the Shark in my PBA Experience league. From what I've read it's not to clear whether or not any of these new products would be any stronger on a long pattern like the Shark then the Dynamic Power, would that be accurate or no?

I do not have pictures but it is solid black and you can pick out some of the particles in the ball.  It will blow your mind with the hitting power, but then again, that's what all Lane Masters balls seem to do.  The balls that Pat identified are due to come out within the next couple of month's.  It looks like Lane Masters is starting all over with their new equipment.  I appears that they are discontinuing their whole line of balls except the Black Pearl Particle and maybe the Black Pearl Pearlized Reactive with the introduction of the new balls.

Thanks for the update on the LM balls.  I was one of the people who could not download their catalog until July 1 (if then).  It does not appear to be a complete wipe out of the existing equipment but it certainly seems to be a fresh re-start.

You're welcome. I'm jazzed about the revamped line-up. LM/L has all of the bases covered with little overlap. The new pearl reactive Solid Strike will fit nicely where the Buzz and Sure Strike used to fit. The Hornet covers the drier conditions as well as being an excellent length ball for high rev players. The Buzz Attack covers the medium conditions well with plenty of surface tuneability to cover the medium-lights to medium-heavies.

I'm really looking forward to picking up a Black Diamond. This could be LM/L's monster ball, covering mediums to heavy conditions with length, snap and yet immune to carrydown.

The Ultimate Power is likely to be my next purchase out of this group. I'm looking forward to the low RG core shared with the Dynamic Power mated to a reactive pearl cover. Control and length on fresh back ends.

The Xtreme Damage is another compelling combination. A particle pearl that is should be stronger in back end reaction than any previous LM/L particle pearl. Sort of a stronger Buzz Attack with a high COR two-piece construction.

The other carryover balls, Black Pearl, Black Pearl Reactive and Dynamic Power, are excellent in their own right and fit well in the 2009/2010 line-up.

Great job Lane Masters! Now how 'bout a spare ball, an upgraded version of the Arrow using something like Motiv's NeoMark graphics?

A solid black/clear similar to the black arrow or a black pearlized cover with the Legends Signature Logo like Motiv's NeoMark graphics would be awesome!

So if you were to classify these bowls where would you put them? This is my take with the limited info I have to go on...

Black Diamond (Medium Heavy/Heavy)Skid Flip

Buzz Attack (Light/Medium to Medium)?

Ultimate Power (Heavy oil) Arcing Motion

Xtreme Damage (Medium oil)Stong Backend Movement

So will the (Dynamic Power) still be the best ball for higher volumes like the Shark?

I'm still waiting for pics! Please somebody, I'm rather excited with this new info.

You'll probably have a tough time getting pictures until LM/L makes them available to pro shops and on their marketing website. Check around the first of July, after Bowl Expo.

My take on classifications:

Heavy Conditions:

Dynamic Power: Low RG, Medium-High Differential, Lighter Load Carbon Particle, 800 matte box surface. Early roll/arc reaction. Good for speed-dominant players, strokers, tweeners. Useable on heavy, medium-heavy and medium conditions depending on surface and pin location.

Black Diamond: Medium RG, High Differential, Medium Load Diamond Particle. Factory polished solid black. More length and snap than the DP. Better for rev-dominant players, tweeners, crankers (and strokers on medium conditions or more surface). Useable on heavy, medium-heavy to medium conditions. Should be more versatile than the DP.

I don't think there is a case for one being "better" than the other. The DP and BD simply get to the pocket with different roll shapes. Get one of each to cover both shapes on heavier conditions.

Black Pearl: Similar to the Black Diamond. Essentially the same motor as the Black Diamond: Medium RG, high differential. Light load particle pearl vs. the BD's medium load solid cover. Cover is at 1000 sheen from the factory vs. the BD's polished finish. My guess is that if you take the Black Diamond to 1000 sheen or 800 matte, the BD would be stronger than the Black Pearl and about as strong as the DP. The BD and BP with similar roll shapes and the DP always earlier and more arc.

Medium to Medium-Heavy Conditions:

Xtreme Damage: Moderate length with a snappy backend (not as much length and snap as the BPR)

Black Pearl Reactive: More length, snappy backend

Medium Conditions:

Buzz Attack: More skid snap than the Ultimate Power, versatile depending on surface

Ultimate Power: Earlier roll than BA, still a snap back-end but less snap than Buzz Attack.

Light Medium Conditions:

Solid Strike: Similar to Xtreme Damage and BPR but on lighter conditions. Skid/snap roll shape.

Light Conditions:

Hornet: Muted snap reaction on back end with length.

Disclaimer: I own and roll the Black Pearl Reactive, Buzz Attack and Hornet, as well as a Conquerer, Big Bang, Buzz, New Standard and World Class Particle Pearl. I have teammates and league/tournament friends who roll the Dynamic Power, Black Pearl, Big Kahuna and Terminator. Other opinions are based on specs, discussions and LM/L literature.

This was posted by Lane Masters Marketing on another thread on this site on 6/11/2009 3:00 PM
------------------------------------------------
For those who own pro shops and the public in general I wanted to post this note sent to pro shops yesterday via email. I think you all need the information pro shop and consumer alike. If there are any pro shop owners who did not get this email please send me your email address and I will get you added to the list ASAP. This email looks like we are releasing 7 balls when in fact we are only releasing 5 and we have two ready based on demand. If demand dictates the need for two more balls we will release them. They are not in the catalog in case we do not release them. And YES, we are still in Stockton, CA. manufacturing the best quality bowling balls made in America.

The Following is the email sent out yesterday.

We’re in preparation for Bowl Expo and I want to make you aware of the 6 balls that are being discontinued this week in preparation for Bowl Expo

The Sting Sure Strike XS Power Terminator Rebellion
Counter Strike World Class Particle Pearl

If you asked the question what is going on? We are cleaning house and starting over with our current best selling balls and bringing you even better quality balls for your shops with better colors and better performance. At the same time we will be able to stock more balls with fewer models to make and keep our inventory up to meet the demand of our customers.

We will start with 2 new releases at Bowl Expo to add to the Buzz Attack released in March. The First Release many of you know is the Solid Strike which will be released in Late June and ready for shipping in July. The next release will be the Legends Black Diamond. The 1st part of the Fred Borden signature series for this year. This will be released in July and ready for shipping in August. The Best news of all is we will be releasing 4 more balls during the year. 2 two piece balls and 2 Pearl Particle with Multi-Density Cores along with a huge surprise release right before the beginning of the season.

Updates:
In Stock:
Buzz Attack is in Stock and ready for shipping. All Weights.
We now have plenty of our “World Famous” ball cleaner in stock and ready for shipping. Look for our NEW I-TACK Cleaner and Ball Wash ready for shipping Mid to late July. Both are designed for the Oil soaked ball to get its hitting power back.
REMEMBER, you must be a Pro Performance Club member to buy direct. If you’re not let me know and I’ll send you an application or give me a call at Lane Masters 888-526-3645.

Email Campaigns:
In an effort to “Go Green” and streamline the process of getting information to our customers we will now be sending all releases via the internet either through our website or through our email campaigns. A monthly newsletter will follow as well to keep you updated on how products are doing and any updates needed to be sent to you.

Website:
I know all of you have been asking about the website. Here are the facts. We do not have control of the previous website so we were not able to update it over the past couple of months. We are building a new site and it is almost ready. It is easier to navigate and it will be more user friendly. The marketing site will remain the same for now, marketing.lanemasters.com. You will be able to access all flyers, logos and shelf talkers from there. If you need any promotion materials please call me or Teresa and we will make sure you get them.

New catalog:
Our New Catalog for 2009-2010 will be available online at our Marketing site for you to download July 1, 2009. If you would like a hard copy please reply with your shop name and address and we will be happy to send one out.

Hope you’re having a great Summer so far and I’m looking forward to meeting some of you at Bowl Expo. Take Care.

Sincerely,
Tony Martin

If you guys missed it... The World Class series are exceptional balls.

World Class Pearl and World Class particle pearl! Also the Sting is a black particle load ball in the current line up!

I know people get excited about new stuff, but the new stuff seems to be a lot like the old stuff... just different colors and small tweeks in the cores.

And by the way, these balls last forever with no loos of performance!!!

" used balls will travel "

I just started using Legends & Lane Masters equipment, and I'm sold! I currently have the original Terminator, as well as the Terminator Rebellion. I have three more balls in mind before fall leagues began. My arsenal by this fall will be...

Terminator Rebellion (Light to Light/Medium oil)

Ultimate Power (Medium Oil)

Terminator (Medium Heavy Oil)

Xtreme Power (Medium/Heavy to Heavy Oil)

Dynamic Power (Heavy to Flooded)

With these weapons in the bag, there shouldn't be a lane condition I'm not prepared for!

O, one other thing, you said the (Solid Strike) is  reactive pearl, I'm pretty sure it's a solid not a pearl.
