« on: November 17, 2006, 05:29:35 PM »
Hi all,

Has anyone thrown these two balls side by side, both being a particle pearl I would like to know how they compare.

As far as I have learned, the New Standard is not a particle pearl. Yes, when polished, some parts seem to be pearlized, but I believe it just the colors. It is supposed to be a solid.

As far as ball reactions go, with their stock surface, 2 balls couldn't be more far apart. (Yes, I have both; still playing with the BP to make it work.) The NS is smooth and even and early; while the BP goes longer and has more backend. The BP is supposed to handle more oil and when the surfaced is dulled slightly, reveals a fairly strong coverstock. I have not taken the BP to the NS's stock 800 grit, but assume from what I have done so far, that it will need more oil than the NS to be effective.

I have both too ... the BP is longer and has a stronger backend reaction, while the NS is a smooth, strong rolling, "control" ball.
