Status of SatisfaXion drilled mild for lighter oil
« on: June 12, 2006, 10:37:28 AM »
Drilled with pin above middle finger and CG about 1" right of grip center (about a 6" x4" drilling for me), no weight hole.

The object was to see on how light an oil I could successfully use this ball, on how light an oil I could use any Legends resin pearl, actually.

Well, my summer league has medium-light oil, maybe a hair more; not quite true medium oil.

This drill uses extreme pin-PAP to reduce flare, as such it goes into a strong roll relatively early, and has much less continuation, (than a 4" - 5" pin-PAP drilling), I believe, because of the reduced flare plus the strong coverstock.

So the bottom line is it's not very weak at all. I have to keep it at the oil line and not allow it to leak out to the dry. If I keep it on the oil line, it stays online and hits Legends hard. If I allow it to swing outside, it's "Left turn now, Clyde!", relatively speaking, because of the strong coverstock. And that cover came high glossed out of the box.

No dice.

Today, after using it for the 2nd time, I sanded it to 2000 grit, using an Abralon pad, and then put another high gloss polish on it. I'll try it once again in the near future to see how well it does.

As reference point, my Visionary Green/Blue Centaur, virtually zero core, very mild coverstock, drilled 4x4 stacked, sanded to 2000 grit, left dull/matte finsihed, went longer and could be leaked out to the dry with no sudden snap/massive hook, than the SatisfaXion had. My Panic, (just drilled 3.5"x 5" , label leverage), hooked earlier and smoother (strangely strong, given the almost zero RG differential and 2000 grit box polished coverstock, but it is Superflex!)

Jeff,

You misread it. I didn't say the drill was strong; I said the roll was strong.

charlest, first of all, I was just messing with you.  Second of all, I've never really seen you review a ball and say it was 'weak' so to speak....bottom line is....I was just messing,......thus the

And.....I didn't really read it wrong because this is what stuck out 'to me'

So the bottom line is it's not very weak at all.

No, you didn't say "strong" ......but........

no apologies needed ! STOP!  It's all in the interpretation!

Could this ball be played "down and in" on a little heavier pattern than you 're playing on now?

Sure. I did that with an Absolute Power at another house, with a mild drilling (not as mild as the one on this Satisfaxion). That shot called for either my New Standard or my Yeah Baby! in order to play my normal 3rd arrow shot, but I wanted to try the AP, drilled 5x4, pin  under the center of the bridge. It worked fine. An outside shot like that gives you a better carry percentage. Of course this was only practice.

With heavier oil, probably medium, this (the SatisfaXion) ball's path and overall reaction would be perfect.

The Absolute Power and the SatisfaXion use the same Legends coverstock: XPR  reactive. Their core specs are quite similar with the AP's core being more rolly and the SatisfaXion's leaning towards a more hockey shape, without being skid/flip in general. The AP is a Lanemasters ball; the SfX is a Legends ball.
