(Any opinions welcome) was I justified in losing my temper?
« on: April 20, 2015, 07:28:59 PM »
Last night during the roll off, I lost my temper. No, I didn't punch the monitor or kick a ball return because I was bowling badly. I yelled at my teammate's girlfriend. She was throwing ice cubes at us from a couple tables away. To clarify a little, she was throwing them under our table and where we walk. I picked up probably 12 ice cubes after I realized that she was the one doing it. And it wasn't that she doesn't know what water does to a slide shoe. She knew perfectly well. She is just a (insert choice profanity here.) Is it justified give your teammate's girlfriend a tongue lashing in front of him for something like that?

Opinions will differ widely; even you have 2nd thoughts because of this post.
But she could easily have caused someone to have a very serious injury.
I understand your feelings at the time; mine might not have been much different.

I guess it depends on exactly what you said  to her and exactly what your relationship is to her and to him.

Was she drunk? or is she just always thoughtless?

I think you handled it better than I would have. I would have insisted the management kick her a$$ out.

I believe you had every right to be irritated.

Why didn't HE tell/ask her to stop?

I would've given him the chance to do something about it first, but if that failed, I probably would have alienated a couple of people because I'm not very polite, or nice, when stupid people make me mad.

I was the first person to do anything because I was the first person to notice. I am also the person who reacts most strongly to stupidity like that. She doesn't care about anyone other than herself. When I asked her if she thought it would be funny if one of us fell and hurt ourselves, she said she would bust out laughing. Honestly, my friend is only with her because he has grown attached to her kids. We all have told him that he needs to get rid of her. I asked your opinions because when I get mad, I can't always tell if I am in the right.

That is the main question, although you said that your teammate did not notice what she was doing. I also agree with Milo; you were more restrained than I would have been. You did the right thing and owe no apologies. The stupidity of some people is really hard to believe.

Yes, I would support u too! I'd tell her to leave...or I'm going to dump a bucket of ice water "in her general direction".  Total B.S.

I lost my cool 6 times during our 8 team end of year tournament for the league title.  The employees basically stopped doing their jobs at the center cause instead of the full 32 lane house we just had us 8 teams.  The pin chaser and mechanic.. B.S.-ing outside in the parking lot.  We had 10+ minute waits for calls.  The manager, if u can call him that this week,  had no clue and didn't care.  Being outside also meant their grace door was open in the back..making the curtain left of lane 1 blow over onto lane 1.  Not like its the most important night of bowling in the entire freaking house or anything ;)

Oh yeah I lost it.  Many people said they never saw me get "mad" before.  Haha, my gf was trying to hug me to calm me down, I was like if the manager isn't going to yell at his employees to get to work, I will 8)

Based on this response from her, I'd say you were 110% justified.

I have to agree with all above post, and firmly agree with Milo, she should have been walked out. I thought it was bad when I was being hounded with unsolicited advice. You did the right thing! The one thing I want to know is how your teammate reacted to what you said? We he on your side, her side, trying to stay neutral? Just curious.

I honesty think my teammate either didn't notice or didn't care. He never said anything to me about it. He was probably too drunk to notice.

I suspect you might consider another team, or another league, or another center next year.

Oh I like this teammate a lot. It is his girlfriend no one likes lol. He said he is quitting this league next year anyway due to money issues. I would love for him to stay
