My gut tells me a 1000 abralon, but I'd like to know if anyone else has a conversion.

A quick Google search revealed this:

Looks like approximately 1700.

By looking at the chart Ishmael gave you I would have to go with like 2000 abralon. By the chart 9 micron would be 1800 grit and abralon doesnt make any grits in between. With that being said 10 micron would be 1700 so I would go with the 2000 pad.

According to Innovative:

Micron   /          Grit
  0      /          2000+
  A5     /          1000-2500
  A10    /          500-1000
  A35    /          180-600

Can't say as I know for sure, only going off the chart in the catalog.

10 micron is appx. 320 grit on the typical sandpaper scale. the closest abralon pad would be 360 grit.

Its between a P1000 and a P2000 abralon

you can see how they compare here with The Bowling Grit Chart (PDF)  compares several bowling products grit rating with several standard grit charts. Ver. 1.0 New 5/21/07

OK, I've received answers from 360-2000 abralon for 10 micron. I am very, very confused!!! I thought that this would be such a simple question!!

This looks fairly accurate.  A 35 is the strongest in the micron line,  maybe close to a 500 pad.  the A-10 would be next in the micron line,  more like a 2000 pad then a 1000 pad.

That happens because of all the different standards used for sizing grits.

Abralon uses the FEPA "P" scale which uses higher tolerances for the grit sizes.
here is a link to the Grit Comparison Chart at the Mirka site(KWH Mirka Ltd manufactures Abralon they are european company thats why they use the FEPA scale) 10 microns is a P2000

Thanks charlest....there sure does seem to be conflicting info from the links everyone has posted, nothing is clearly definitive. I think I'll try 1000 first, I can always go up to 2000....or down to whatever is necessary!!

Of course. Common sense prevails.
Try 1000 grit: then got to 600 grit or 4000 grit, as needs be.

Have fun & good luck.
