10 pin question
« on: April 18, 2009, 03:13:42 AM »
Just curious to see where you are stand and aim for when shooting the 10 pin. This is directed towards people who throw a plastic ball at the 10 and are right handed.

depends upon the lane. on the left lane i place my left foot in the middle of the gutter and throw the ball at about the 24th board. on the right lane i have to deal with the ball return so i press myself up against the ball return and throw the ball over the 4th arrow.

i stand with left foot 9-9 1/2 boards to the left of the last dot and aim for the middle arrow. unless the lanes are bone dry, you can almost throw your strike ball shot, i use a blue dot.

Left foot over 30-31, ball splitting the down lane range finders on Proanvilane. On spares I also move 2-3 feet back on the approach for a touch more speed.

stand on 38 and throw over 23 fast, if theres oil, if its dry I roll it over the thumb so it doesnt hook, I have high revs(2 handed) so the spare ball hooks a lot if I dont take hand out.

Tip of my right shoe on the 30th board, broken back wrist, thumb turned far to the right so that the ball is almost held like a conventionally drilled piece. Aimed at 16 at the arrows.

This is quite straight, but some local houses have broad ball returns that prevent deeper positions on the approach, so I settled on this option as standard strategy.
