10 years of Bowling

For those of us who have bowled for at least 10 years I have a question.

How has you game changed from 10 years ago. Think about your mind set, pre-shot routine through delivery and how has that changed from till now?

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE & PYRO. STAND 18 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!

I am a smarter bowler due to consistent coaching.  When I frist started bowling leagues in 1978, I watched others and tried to figure out what to do.

I have always been a down and in player. I have been working with my coach since Feb. '05 and now I have a better roll to the ball and can play different parts of the lanes.

Back in the 70' and 80's I had one ball and it was sufficient. Today with the equipment being more condition sensitive, one ball is not going to get the job done.

I still call the same center "Home."  Back then, the shot was 5 board.  Today it can be anywhere between 5 and 15 (my home center likes to play with the shot on a regular basis).

My preshot routine has been pretty much the same for the past 10 or so years.  My mental game has become stronger, especially in the last 3-6 months.  Thanks to my coach, I understand better why the ball reacts like it does.  I now understand about break point and the angle of entry.

10 years ago I was 14.  I was throwing Urethane down and in.  My game was slow and solid, my spare game was spotty, and my form was great.  It had to be, because with Urethane you didn't get too many breaks.

Now, my form is suspect, I am inconsistent and I don't even know what my A game is anymore.

My preshot routine is always the same, and I focus more...perhaps that's why I suck?

No, we are basically condemned to our natural game.  (whatever that means, its an unnatural sport)

Our Mental games change with age, muscles and flexibility change with more age, and we tend to end up where we started.  well more or less.  and.... lane conditions and equipment force us "Back to the Future".

10 years ago all i had was a straight down and in shot from outside 10. my ball speed was higher in those days as well. i'm so much more versatile now----the difference is like night and day.
