Ok guys, I need some advice. My dad is 73 and he wants a new ball. Which 12# balls have the good cores in them, if any? The rotogrip planets look like an option. Although he likes the ebonite stuff. Don't worry about ball death, there isn't any oil on the lanes when he bowls the senior league. Any advice is appreciated.T.J.

It would be better to find out from pro shop they would be able too tell you. Most balls dont have the real core in they till 14lbs.

Go to www.brunswickbowling.com then,
click on "balls & equipment" then,
click on "Pro Shop infromation' then,
click "charts, specs, etc" then,
look at "RG numbers for all current balls".

There you will see that Brunswick uses a performance core in every 12 & 13 pound ball. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. The avalanches look like a good choice. I'll have to find out if the bash has the heavy core in it. I have found that if the lighter balls have the alternative core in them, they have a tendency to hook ALOT. So hopefully we can come up with a plan.

MoRich balls all have the regular core in their 13# balls. Unless there is something wrong with your Dad at 73 he should still be able to use 14 or 15 lb balls. 14 at least.

I am 74, to be 75 in the fall and still use 15 lb. balls. I even tore my upper bicep tendon off and after a few weeks rest, still as able to use my 15 lb. arsenal.

I am slowly building a 14 lb. arsenal and may change to it this summer.

Good luck to your dad, whatever you decide. Don't forget to tell him to let the ball do the work, not your arm.

Dicnic, after knee replacement(slide knee), carpal tunnel surgery(both hands), and arthritis, I'm just glad he is willing to get out and bowl. He rolls a back up ball, and still average in the 190s. He just wants a different look than his tornado gives him. Thanks for the advice,T.J.
