2 Handed
« on: August 02, 2017, 05:25:49 PM »
I watched the junior gold some on TV the last 2 weeks.

Both weeks there were at least 1 boy bowling 2 handed but no girls.

I don't believe I have ever seen a 2 handed girl bowler.

Has anyone seen a moderately successful 2 handed girl bowler?

By moderately successful I mean not a very young girl simply rolling the ball with 2 hands and lets say they carry an average of 180 or better.

If there are not any is there a physical reason this is not happening?

Especially since bowling is still more of a mental game than physical one imo.
Kind of noob when made this account so take advice with grain of salt.

You can't compare a one game TV match against one of the best women bowlers ever to a whole tournament. Daria lead the tournament by 200 pins and was 300 ahead of Liz.

I realize that, it was just an example of what the average high school or college female faces on a day to day basis.  I said PWBA was a different animal.  Daria whacked the whole week, but the lane transition got her on the show.  If being two handed was beneficial to the female game or their environment, it would have happened a long time ago.

Two handed can be just as beneficial to the gals, IF MASTERED. mastering means the ability to generate speed commensurate with increased rev rate, and just as important the ability to bdecrease axis rotation when necessary.  The latter, even more important to women than men

Most of the women are so stupid good at what they do though that I'm not sure the extra power is necessary.  Maybe if they wanted to start competing against the men, sure, but I like the women's professional game a lot more than the men's right now.

+1

I remember in college how every team played the lanes similarly and the shot never blew up.  Whereas the men would just throw whatever wherever and the shot was toast after 3-4 games.  Made baker games ridiculous.

Oh, and the top women's team would regularly beat the top men's team in total pinfall.

I hate watching the men bowl collegiately.  It's exactly like what you say, it's like they intentionally destroy the lanes as fast as possible so they can start lofting the gutter.  Collegiate bowling is causing some major problems.  People think it's this great thing that's helping a lot, and yeah, it's pretty good if done right, just too many don't do it right.  It's an ego training ground.
