2009-10 Goals
« on: August 13, 2009, 03:43:05 PM »
Anyone have any goals set for this coming season? I love setting goals each year to see if I can reach them, whether they be short or long term...

Last season:

GOAL - RESULT

1 300 game - Threw 6
1 800 series - threw 4
25 700 series - threw 39 (I changed it to 40 with 5 weeks left after I had hit 30, and woulda had 40, but threw an 800 the second to last week, which threw me off by 1. What a cryin shame. :])
Average 225 for all leagues (4) : Finished with 229 and change. I also ended up with high average of the house (233).

This season:
3 300s
2 800s
45 700s
Average 230 for all leagues (only 3 this year)

What are some of your goals?

Just wanna say thanks. Thanks for all the input.

From now on, when someone asks me how I did, I'll be a d!ck and walk away. No one needs to hear about it.

I'll just be one of those guys who keeps to himself, who bowls good and no one likes. I'll carry my arrogance in by bag from house to house.

We all make mistakes. My biggest one was starting a post, yearning for input on what people try to do from season to season. Didn't think it would get this out of hand. I guess, in the end, what I can take away from what everyone has said in this thread is to go and better myself, and try not to be such a figjam. I'll admit, looking back at what I said, it was pretty egotistical. I didn't mean to p!ss anyone off. Everything everyone said will be taken into consideration, and I will refrain from posting anything of the sort from now on.

I have become what I strived not to. And, it saddens me.

Eh.

I'm not taking anything to heart here... it's harmless flaming anyway.

So what if I FIGJAM a little. Who doesn't? I know I'm not the best, and I know I can improve tremendously. I'm proud of how I've been bowling, so I don't care what anyone says.

However, I wasn't expecting to get bombarded like that, and that's why I was contradicting... whatever. I couldn't think on my feet at the time... most of the crap I deal with on the lanes is mental, so that showed through on here. I'm going to get better as a bowler, and it's the main goal for the future. End of story.

To average around 215..and to bowl more tournaments and win a few bucks.  Just to be more competitive.

BBB215,

Giving you some credit. You had a great past year. Take pride in it! (Nothing wrong with that). You also put it into perspective by stating it was on an easy shot.

quote:
For the record, the shot is EXTREMELY easy

But I think you need to look at your goals a little different. And this is what others are pointing to:

quote:
GOAL - RESULT

1 300 game - Threw 6
1 800 series - threw 4
25 700 series - threw 39 (I changed it to 40 with 5 weeks left after I had hit 30, and woulda had 40, but threw an 800 the second to last week, which threw me off by 1. What a cryin shame. :])
Average 225 for all leagues (4) : Finished with 229 and change. I also ended up with high average of the house (233).

This season:
3 300s
2 800s
45 700s
Average 230 for all leagues (only 3 this year)

You bowled the past year:

a. 6 300 games but your goal this year is 3
b. 4 800 series but your goal this year 2
c. 39 700 series and your goal is 45
d. a 225 average for all leagues and you goal this year is 230.

Only 2 of your goals are better than your previous year. What is there left for you to do? It looks like you have gone as high as you can go on this shot. Your goals boil down to stringing a few more strikes together in games and thats okay, but you need to do more than numbers.  In your own words:

quote:
I want to get out and get more experience. But, like I said, the funds are limited.

Set up some challenges in one of your leagues(some ideas):

1. Use only plastic or urethane in one league all year.

2. Use only one ball in a league causing you to adjust your approach and not just reaching for the next one in line that you know will work.

Just giving some thought to it.
