A lot Backend Reaction
« on: January 23, 2010, 11:33:07 AM »
I'm looking for a ball to give me a lot of backend reaction. What would be a good ball?

Visionary makes it and it's a great skid/snap ball.

Ogre SS, C300 Bedlam, or the Hammer Burn.

Now that you've seen some of the responses, do you realize you have to narrow down your question by specifying
a. for what type of oil pattern you need this ball and,
b. what your style of release and ball speed are?

Sorry thanks charlest
a. for what type of oil pattern you need this ball (med oil to heavy)
b. what your style of release and ball speed are? (Power Stroker) 17mph

Medium to heavy oil still covers 2 ranges or balls. Most strong backend medium to medium-heavy oil balls are pearls, some polished, some P4000 grit matte:
Breakpoint Pearl
C-System 2.5 & 3.5
Wild Thing
Pure Swing
One Pearl
Mission
Frenzy
Cell Pearl
Rogue Cell (solid/pearl combo)

Most balls with strong backends for medium-heavy to true heavy oil are solids or hybrids:
Breakpoint
Virtual Gravity
Jigsaw Corner
Mutant Cell
BreakOut
Evolve
Magic Action
Black Widow Sting
Full Swing

Those are just some samples.

I's basically go for a polished reactive ball, pearl better than solid. Medium to high RG plus a high differential shoudl help, too, as well a strong mass bias of the core at 6.75" from your PAP. A large pin distance (3-4") with the pin above the fingers should also delay hooking action.

My personal back end monster is my Awesome Finish - drilled to skid/snap, and that's just what it delivers. Long and sharp. A bit condition-specific, though, but when the lane is right (with good and longer oil), this baby utterly rocks the back end.

heavier oil balls do not tend to have alot of backend because they use up too much energy in the front part of the lane... if there are clean backends then a weaker ball will actually give you a bigger backend..

I have heard the hammer burn has a crazy backend.
