A pearl that handles carrydown well
« on: February 24, 2017, 01:22:25 AM »
Which pearl would handle carrydown the best? - Code Black, United Revolt or other?

And what type of layout would be best? - A layout that has a short hook-to-roll phase?

Haven't seen or thrown the United Revolt, but the Code Black looks good.

Personally, I use a Motiv  Paranoia for this.

Saw the United Revolt in action last night.  It was pretty strong off the spot for the bowler (high rev and speed - think EJ Tacket).  The bowler had a little too much friction for the United Revolt and the ball was a tad unpredictable.  Moved to a Jackal Ghost and was able to control the break point well.

Also, one of my bowlers was using a Code Black with decent success.  Started with the Phaze but it was burning up a tad because of the required launch angle.  Moved to the Code Black and was able to get a better reaction at the breakpoint.

Of the two, the Code Black seems to start up a bit sooner and be more rounded.  If you are looking for something to react stronger at the spot, then I would say the United Revolt.  Depending on how you approach carry down either could work.  If you like to bang it off the dry and force the reaction, then the United Revolt looks good.  If you like to start the ball early and make sure it reacts some, then the Code Black would be the ball I think.

But man, that United Revolt looks pretty strong and is pretty similar to the Code Black.  Last night's assessment could be because of the differences in bowler styles and the newness of the United Revolt.

The Scandal Pearl, Phobia, GB2 Phenom Pearl, & Tyrant Pearl are a few that can handle carrydown well from what I have been using / seen. The Code Black is a good ball, but from what I have seen from some bowlers in my area, tends to be a little to clean and angular down the lane.... There are a lot of great products out there from a lot of various companies, but I can personally vouch for the balls that I mentioned above that are in my arsenals...

Seismic Venator Evolution handles oil and carry down well for a pearl.

Inception Pearl as well.  Late mid read with a good move off the spot.

Albeit a lower end pearl with mid-level performance, the freakshow cuts right through carry down for me like it's not even there, one of the best low-end pearls you'll find on the market (along with the Wreck-em).

I agree I own code black and it is clean and sometimes sensitive to over under, there are a lot of good balls out I normally can play my primal fear or sr2 or sometimes Ball down to my low end stuff like a tag or cobra venom

I have good luck with the respect hybrid.  Punching a pearl soon.
The ball makes a good midlane move and keeps me in play through carry down.  Gotta have some speed or head oil for it.

Bowled an even oil tournament 42' oiled on top of the previous night's league shot.  The owner even was squirting oil onto the lanes out of a ketchup bottle...Just to create more out of bounds.

Talk about no hook and tons of carry down lol.

Guess what ball made me $350 and 2nd place.

900 global equipment, took my winnings and recently invested in a nib respect pearl and another nib dream.

So sad the line is gone.

The Snap Lock would be a better option over the Code Black on carrydown. The Snap reads the mids a little better and isn't as jerky at the breakpoint for better control.

Odds are unless you are on the same pair as people throwing plastic or urethane this is what you are experiencing.

Most asymetric pearls are good on carrydown.  Really deoends on your style, and how long the pattern is.  The longer the pattern the less carrydown is an issue.
