how long do abralon pads typically last? would it be able to still be used after 40 times of use?

I don't use them for that long, but I guess you might, depends on the grit and pressure.

I don't know if they have a predictable life span or not. I usually get 10 or more good scuffings out of them if I take the time to rinse them off and let them dry before I store them. I also have kept the used ones especially the 2000 and 4000 for polishing balls in the shop. A used 4000 really puts a gloss like shine on balls.

No,  I would say about 5-10 times if used on a ball spinner,  and maybe 15-20 times in done by hand.

I agree with jls above.... my personal experience is very similiar, 5 - 10 uses to get a "true" surface matching the advertised grit.... after that, the surface left is increasingly finer/higher....

I seem to recall Ebonite stating several months ago that a set of pads will do something like 40 balls for them, but based on my experience of using Abralon Pads, I have my doubts the pads will hold their grit that long. I know they won't when used on a spinner. On a spinner, they will last approx. 5 balls at the grit they are rated at, depending how much pressure you apply, how much water you use and how clean you keep the pads.

Just remember Ebonite is probably using 3 pads on a "Haus" style machine on a ball that has no holes or inserts that rub the pads the wrong way so to speak and likely remove grit off the pad prematurely.
