AMF lane maintenance
« on: September 23, 2015, 06:57:27 AM »
Heres the problem...Righty, avg speed, avg revs 218 avg etc... In no private house do I have this problem...Just AMF houses....The ball comes back with minimal oil rings but If I use my drier lane ball like the Tag, it wont hook 3 inches playing up 8. If I use the Jackal or Guru Master or Bad ass or Manic playing the same line, the ball never gets into a roll and seems to skid to the pocket. If I move inside of 10 there is either no hook or it goes through the nose if not enough speed. Heres the crazy part. If shooting for the 7 pin the balls (all of them) make a wicked left turn if I throw over the middle arrow and let it hook to the 7. Also, No lefty has hook issues, that side of the lane appears to be oiled right and they have oil rings on their ball. Im not the only righty with this issue, there are several others. Is it bad lane maintenance? The lane machine is screwed up? I, we (righties) cannot figure it out.

I wouldn't call this an "AMF" issue.  This is a center management issue that happens to be an AMF center.

Are these issues during league?  Is this a second shift league?  There are several reasons causing what you are seeing.  Getting a better understanding of the time you are bowling along with whether or not it is league will shed some light.

Ok, we've determined this is the incorrect part of the lane to play.

If I move inside of 10 there is either no hook or it goes through the nose if not enough speed.

So why not just amp it up and use the correct speed?  I'm confused as to whether or not you've found friction.  If you have then you can work with it.

Also, what happens when you get into 15-20 at the arrows?

Heres the crazy part. If shooting for the 7 pin the balls (all of them) make a wicked left turn if I throw over the middle arrow and let it hook to the 7.

This is an example of why using plastic and going straight at all single pins (at the very least) is an optimal strategy.  These issues don't exist for me personally on any THS or sport patterns.

Also, No lefty has hook issues, that side of the lane appears to be oiled right and they have oil rings on their ball.

Oil rings on the ball EQUAL "oiled right"?

Im not the only righty with this issue, there are several others. Is it bad lane maintenance? The lane machine is screwed up? I, we (righties) cannot figure it out.

Semi-rhetorical question:  Are there any right-handed bowlers that ARE finding success?
