Any cardiac ablation recovery time experiences?
« on: April 16, 2017, 05:27:30 PM »
I've got to ask just in case... I've got ablation scheduled for 3 weeks before Nats. I'm hearing anything from 7, 14, or 30 days. Problem seems to be worries about insertion site bleeding rather than actual cardiac. Anyone ever gone thru this procedure and know a realistic time frame for recovery being safe to bowl, particularly 6 games S/D....
Feedback appreciated.
Thanks

Talk to your doctors!!!   If it were me I'd find a substitute.  --  JohnP

As you've probably surmised, the doctors are the first I asked. Not being bowlers, they only know to give the standard pat excuse... No weight for 7 days, 10 pounds only for the next 7, then watch it. They have no real knowledge of the strain the 6 games S/D puts on the vein where the incision is initially made... I actually wouldn't trust them if they said all's well. But after 27 years, I don't want to miss..... :(

That's a tough situation.
Dr's are so careful with their recovery estimates, they can't risk you rushing back into some physical activity and then have an issue.
Much better to be safe than sorry in this matter, especially being away from home.
And I'm a guy you would have to drag away kicking and screaming before I miss a league night.
I think you already know the answer.....
better to miss this year instead of miss all the rest
