Arsenal Question
« on: December 27, 2003, 12:53:28 AM »
With all the talk lately about building arsenals, the issue of $$$ has come up a few times.  I was thinking, what would be wrong with building an arsenal out of discontinued stuff that you can generally find on the internet, undrilled, fairly cheap!  I mean, I'm all for supporting the local pro shop (which I do a fair amount, I've bought a new ball from them every year the past 4 years.  And being a musician, I'm also very strong about supporting the local little guy), but with some prices on the stuff not made anymore, how can you pass it up!

And a lot of times, the discontinued stuff is just as strong as some new stuff, or some of us don't want stuff as strong as the new stuff.

Am I the only one thinking of this?

I totally agree with you. It does make more sense, the only problem is MOST of the older stuff, depending on how old it is, alot of them have already been drilled at least once. This is just from what I can tell looking at balls for sale and what not. The idea does make sense, but older things are 1) getting harder to find, and if you can find them, they are usually drilled, and 2) are not as strong, not as egineered I guess you could say? BUT just my opinion

Just because it's not made anymore, that doesn't make it bad equipment.

If I could find an Ebonite Nitro R/2 Solid, Columbia Piranha/C, Columbia Tremor, Brunswick Danger Zone, Brunswick Purple Rhino Pro, AMF Ninja and Ninja Master, and maybe a Black Thunder Storm... shooooo, I'd be a happy camper.

Depending on the deal you can get online. Sometimes it is cheaper just to get a new ball through the pro shop. At least where I am. By the time I pay for the ball, the shipping, then have to pay for the drilling,(which he does for free if you buy the ball from him), plus grips and a slug. It averages out almost the same. If it's only gonna save 10 or 20 bucks, I have to go to the pro shop and support local business.

You can always hit em hard when you've got the balls
