now before i say anything i want everyone who responds to know that i am VERY aware that you dont have all the information necessary to make perfect ball recomendations and im not asking for anyone to pick a ball for me, i simply want your thoughts on a ball and if any other balls come to mind feel free to speak up, i like to have as many opinions as possible but i am quite capable of screening comments and suggestions through my knowledge of my game and the conditions that i face...so, now that i have that out of the way (i just dont feel like being blasted by the "bowling gods" on this site for not knowing my speed, axis tilt, etc...)im looking for a ball or 2 for drier, spottier conditions, im considering a storm power hrg drilled for medium length to handle breakdown conditions with some carrydown, and im debating purchasing a sonic x or a urethane for anything drier, my driller has an undrilled columbia blue knight collecting dust on his shelf and im thinking about having him punch it up for me, can anyone offer me any input as to their experiences with the hrg or the blue knight? was the blue knight a good urethane? any other suggestions? if anyone has questions for me please message me, but dont bother responding if all your going to do is complain that my profile stinks and youv never seen me bowl because i know that already, thanks,

x-factor drilled for medium length with an arcing backend and dulled to a smooth 1000 to tame over/under reaction, i use it on most tougher medium conditions, duece drilled leverage for heavy oil, eraser drilled to skid/flip for house shots, and a plastic for spares...

speaking from experience, the Eraser and HRG WILL OVERLAP! trust me.

You need something between your Eraser and plastic ?

Go with a Big Hit Pearl or Sonic X both at about 5x4 or so...

make sense?

well, my eraser is very very over/under, because the hrg has some particle loading in it i figured it would be smoother and not as jumpy, i picked the eraser up off a guy who didnt like it and i havnt found many conditions that i can use it on, either too much reaction off the dry or it just skids on oil and carrydown...

OK, you could either take the finish off a touch, this will smooth it out quite a bit, OR you could replace it with an HRG.  Either may work......

I would go with a Sonic X for drier conditions. It has a very nice move to the pocket and retains energy well for a good hit at the pins. Not bad for a low to mid priced ball.

I like the idea of a Sonic X for drier conditions.  Another option is a tour power or maybe even a Columbia Sport Ball.  I love my tour power...if you want it for drier try and find one with a 4-5" pin (they are out there) and just polish it up / bring the sand up to a high grit...that should do the trick also.

Jeff...while the eraser and HRG cover some of the same conditions it will give him a totally different look on the lane.

True, however, with my Eraser at 5.25x4.5 and the HRG at 4.5x3.5 I didn't see a TON of difference,..the HRG was a touch smoother, but in no way did I need both balls.  Just  a learning experience for dummy over here !!
