Ball drilled by online pro shop
« on: January 08, 2018, 11:09:37 AM »
Has anyone ever ordered a ball from bowlingball.com or bowlerx.com (or anything similar really) and had the ball drilled by them as well? I've been kicking the idea around now for a while and was wondering how it works. I'm assuming you give them your drill/span specs and they can use that to punch the holes. How specific can they get on layouts though? Can you request 4x4x2 and they can use your PAP to achieve that specific layout or are all the layouts very generalized?

Buddies Pro Shop is highly rated and is known to provide good online service.

As for Bowlingball.com This might be of some help, it was posted by Tony Ruocco of bowlingball.com. over on another forum. Several users there have had balls drilled by them and had good service.

Tony Ruocco here from bowlingball.com. I just thought I would chime in here and give you some information on our professional drilling services.

We know that not everyone has the luxury of a knowledgeable pro shop that is open consistent hours and has inventory to take care of all of your needs. If you do, then there are obvious advantages to having your ball drilled and services locally. For those of you who do not have a local shop or they are not there when you need them or you just do not feel comfortable with the work they do, we are here for you.

We have a few options if you want us to drill your new ball.

1. You can enter your specs online, in your bowlingball.com account. This option allows you to enter the specs your pro shop has given you or you may have received at a tournament, etc.
- Before we drill your new ball, we will review your specs and contact you if we have any questions or if something doesnt appear to be correct

2. If you have your own specs but dont feel confident enough to enter them on your own, you can fax or email those to us and we will enter them for you.
- Again, we will review them and let you know if we have any questions

3. Finally, and this is by far our most used service, we will pick up your existing bowling ball for FREE to copy the specs on your ball. While your old ball is with us we offer to resurface it completely free as well.
- We send you a pre-paid UPS label, this not only makes it easy for you but also insures your package coming back to us in case something happens in transit.
- When we get your ball back here we will copy the specs exactly as they are on your current ball
- Keep in mind this is a great time to possibly look at going to a thumb mold, Turbo Switch Grip or other interchangeable thumb system. This makes going from ball to ball much easier and they all will feel the same. Also if you continue to use our drilling service you will not have to worry
about working out the thumb hole each time you get a new ball.
- Once your new ball is drilled, we will get it shipped back to you along with your old ball free of charge.

All of our work is guaranteed to be drilled exactly to the specs of your old ball. We stand behind all of our work and our ball drillers have over 30+ years experience.

If you have any other questions, we can assist you on here or you can call our customer service team anytime to discuss your next ball.

Thanks for your support of bowling and for staying active on BowlingBoards.com

Sending them a ball that you really like the fit of is better than sending just your specs.

Let them take the measurements off your old ball with the same measuring tool they use to lay out your new ball. Otherwise, there can be variances between the tools used to measure your initial grip fit and the one the online shop uses.

Buddies is awesome.  In the past if you’re a new customer and you contact them, they gabe a UPS shipping label free of charge to send them a ball for them to copy your specs. You can discuss with them also before drilling your new ball what you’re looking for out of the new ball and will suggest layouts and possibly advise the ball you’re looking at might not be good for what you want reaction wise. I would never hesitate getting a ball drilled from Buddies. Very professional.

I order from BowlerX and have them drill.  But full disclosure, their B&M store is an hour from my home and they have physically done my measurements and have all my (and my son’s) info on file.  But of you have your sheet (specs) and provide, they are top notch drillers. And they will stand behind any work they do.  Buy with confidence.

I've been using Buddies for over 10 years. Every ball fits just like the ball they had me send in. They also took the time to call me and discuss my game and what I like and don't like. I also call them regularly to discuss adding balls to my arsenal and they are always very helpful.

It's great to just open the box and go bowl. I couldn't do that with my local shop.

Hello Uwecbowler

We'd love to be your on-line store for drilling services. We offer a service where we will send you a return label for your best fitting ball. Upon us receiving it we will revive, resurface and put new grips in the ball you sent in. We will also contact you to discuss your style and layouts. I believe you will be very satisfied just like so many others that we drill for daily. Please email me at Chris@buddiesproshop.com if you have any questions.

I too will vouch for Buddies as well.  I used to drill my own equipment, so I did not ship them a ball to copy, I just provided them with my specs.  Every ball I have ordered from them arrives at my door, fitting perfectly and laid out exactly how I asked.  Chris and his staff are top notch, and I they are the only shop I do business with for that reason.

I can say that Buddies does an excellent job with doing your online drilling! They've drilled several balls for me and my wife. I've drilled for years and when I sold my equipment, I sent our drill sheet with our specs to them. It was as if I drilled them and they were a perfect fit. Just my $.02, Bruce
