Ballreviews 1970?
« on: March 04, 2008, 06:13:52 PM »
Can you imagine if BR existed in 1970?  What would we talk about?

No interchange shoe soles.
One color bowling balls.
No arsenals.
No "I FINALLY got my 300 posts".

Although, CG placements would be discussed!  Gotta max that side weight in those rubber balls!

I almost shot 300 last night, but after I had the front 5 I stepped on one of those damn yellow pencils and stuck on my 6th shot.  I had to pay $.50 for a pair of rental shoes and still managed to shot 225, all in all it was a good night.  I shot 189, 225 192 for a 606 and managed to raise my average to 189 and I am now the high average for my league.

Fellow bowlers...

What do you think I should do? Should I soak my Yellow Dot in paint thinner again. The new Yellow Dot bleeder is coming out soon. Should I drilled it with a lot of bottom weight. The guy that drilled my ball is coaching me and he told me to release the ball in a handshake position and the follow through high over my head and a deep knee bend. He says that I will get a lot fingers in the ball with good lift. His advice is really helped me with this new urethane finish that all the houses are using now. With lacquer finish on the lanes I only needed my Black Beauty ball and it worked great everywhere. I am rolling a semi roller now. Thanks for all to the advice you have given me on these post. The wrist support has really helped. I may try the finger grips, because you are right the sticky stuff I use on my fingers is kind of messy. Where can I get a Guppy rosin bag. Every body is using one and I can't find one anywhere.

If the above brings back some memories, you are getting old.

Plastic for spares?  Why?  I'm not spending $18.00 for a spare ball!

Whats a pin?

Lousy bar service on the lanes.  It took the bar waitress two minutes to respond to the call button.

Couldn't find an opening in any leagues here, had to go to three different houses to find an open spot in a league.  It's the midnight third shift league and the bar closes at one.  At least I'll be able to bowl.

The high average in the league is 194, he's too good for us, he should turn pro.

A new ball, the one I have now is sixteen years old (my Dad gave me his old one when he retired), and it looks really beat up.  Hopefully I can squeeze $25 out of the budget for it. Should I go semifingertip or conventional on the drilling?

Last night during league my 15 year old nephew was really struggling so I gave him a cigarette to relax him. He shot great after that.
