this guy is horrible.. and boring, and it actually pisses me off that hes on the vids.. and he does NOT need to be on these videos to show what a monster hook ball can do thrown straight... This guy might as well use a houseball..  They replaces Halstrom for THIS guy? wow

Wow, perhaps a little too much coffee today?

Believe it or not, some people actually bowl like that.  Not everybody is a grip it and rip player.  And if what I see in centers and leagues is any indication, there are plenty of pro shops out there selling and drilling "monster hook" balls to people that throw straight!

If that is all it takes to piss you off, you might want to take a long hard look in the mirror and consider some counseling.

Don't sweat the small stuff!

I think you're over reacting regarding Clint. He probably represents 80% + of league bowlers in existence, so why not show what this ball can do for a lower rev player throwing straight up the oil?

Besides, what did he throw -- maybe 4 shots out of the total in the video?

I don't see the problem.  They show 3 guys with totally different styles of bowling for comparison.  Another BR armchair QB keyboard pounder.

Why not?  You ever watch league?  That's your majority of style, not age.

First off, no, he couldn't throw that shot with a lighter oil polished pearl. It'd go flat ten every time playing that line.  He'd have to move everything right and play more on top of the friction. But that's beside the point. Aren't 80% of league bowlers even crappier than that guy and hook the ball less? Why wouldn't you want to advertise directly to those people since they're the majority of your market?

hmm, well I guess we all have contrasting leauges then , because the only ppl I see throw a straight ball are seniors and less that 10% of guys in majors..  I havent seen ANYONE throw like that around here.. And my bad about the polished ball... let me rephrase..

Couldnt he achieve that monster hook/impact  by using a power groove, a avalanche solid, a nomad or furious? That better?

Just didnt think straight balls needed to be top of the line hooking balls

The guy that whooped my butt was using a mega friction while I was doing all I could to keep ny slingshot on the lane.

Point being, his ball was getting into a heavy roll and killing the pins. Hook doesn't mean it needs to cover 20 boards..

You DO know his ball isn't actually going straight, right?

I rev it up only slightly more than this guy, but I'm still a stroker at best.  I personally throw almost nothing but stronger equipment with weaker drills because weaker coverstocks can react a little over/under on a wet-dry house shot, and they don't read the midlane enough to give me the entry angle I like.  Even in the last games of a third-shift block at Nationals this year when the shot was burnt up pretty badly, I was still throwing a sanded Gravity Shift with a skid/flip layout because anything weaker wouldn't let me chase the head oil left and still have anything left on the back to kick out the 10 pin.

In addition to what has been pointed out (that he was not a point it at the pocket bowler), it WAS in the inside of the lane where the little bit of oil on a THS will be most concentrated.  As such, it gives people a look at how the ball might react when thrown in similar circumstances...

Not everyone is a 20-something strapping the prostitute shot...last time I was considering a league, many of the bowlers in the house were over 40 and many could have been considered dump-and-chuckers.
