Bowling Ball Companies
« on: May 20, 2008, 01:18:42 AM »
Ever since Ebonite bought half of the competition I have been a little lost on who makes what as I heard Lane #1 is no longer partnered with Brunswick and I don't know what MoRich is doing anymore. I understand it as Ebo makes Hammer Columbia and Track. Storm makes Roto. 900 makes their own and AMF. Visionary makes their own. I have no clue where any other company fits in. Just looking for some clarification.

Big B pours Morich and Elite.
Visionary is pouring Banger and was pouring Insite.
Storm is pouring the new AZO.

You have the rest correct.

There are six main manufacturers that make equipment for the US market:

Ebonite: Makes Ebonite, Hammer, Columbia, Track
Brunswick: Makes Brunswick, Elite, Morich
Storm: Makes Storm, Roto-grip, AZO
900 Global: Makes 900 Global, Lane 1, AMF
Lanemasters: Makes Lanemasters/Legends
Visionary: Makes Visionary, Banger, previously made Insight.

Hammer, Columbia, and Track are little more than brands that Ebonite owns.  Ebonite also owns Dynothane, though it's an overseas brand now.

Likewise for Roto-grip and AZO Storm owns them.  They may have separate design teams and even be separate companies all owned by Storm, but they're a part of Storm.

900 Global licenses the AMF name for consumer bowling equipment from Qubica/AMF.  They don't "own" AMF, it's a brand.  Q/AMF makes pinsetters, lanes, house equipment,...

Lane 1, Elite, Banger, and Morich are their own companies that do their own ball designs.  They aren't owned by any of the others but they do not have their own manufacturing facilities.
