Bowling and Working Out

 

When I am bowling league or whatever I cant do incline or decline bench..  It puts added pressure on my shoulder but I noticed working my forearms helps allot more than anything else for me... Cardio is good but when I start dropping weight it affects my balance... 

 

What working out techniques are you using...

For me, a good full-body workout regimen does well.  You have to pay attention to the legs especially.  That is where you get the biggest benefit.  And above all, a good full-body stretching routine is paramount.

 

I have done P90X and similar type activities and they help a lot.... for me.  Everyone is different and each person should make sure they are not doing anything that will hinder their performance or damage their body.

 I strongly agree with this statement. Cardio is good too. If you're bowling only in leagues cardio may not benefit you that much but I think it helps for tournaments.

For me, doing legs is huge. If I go for a while without doing legs, my slide knee begins to act up because the surrounding ligaments and muscles aren't as strong as they were. When I start doing legs again, the knee pain goes away. Not to mention, like said above, doing leg exercises are paramount to good balance at the line.

I was curious on the OP if he meant if he did those exercises it hurt his bowling or if doing them hurt his body physically.

 

I love to do lowerback exersises, step up exercises, hamstring, and bowling specific positions, like getting in my stance and pushing the front knee forward in sets of 10 to 20, sets 2.  Never two days in a row.

 

I don't do it that often but it really helps when I do it.

your form is probably messed up. you need to try to position your shoulders over you knee at the foul line. this prevents you from being off balance.


You need to compete for something greater than just winning.
The future belongs to whoever prepares for it.

i work out like a mad dawg. i usually work out between 4 and 6 times a week.  and i actually notice that when my body is soar and beat up that my form is better. and when i mess my form up, my tired and aching muskles hurt like crazy. so i personally dont think working out has anything to do with your bowling game. soar or not. your body is a phenomial piece of equipment. put it to work
