BR2006 Schedule
« on: June 05, 2006, 05:25:52 AM »
Thought I'd throw out our schedule so those of you who want to golf, shop, or sightsee could have an idea of the times available to do a little planning.

Friday:

9-1 Golf Outing for those interested.
9-6 Instruction from Ron
6-? Supper as a group
8/9-? More bowling - Poker tournament at Geoff's

Sat

9-11 Practice on the Bragging rights tournament shot
11-12 Sponsors time, drawing for some of the donated equipment.  This year we have Ritchie Sposata, owner of Lane 1, possibly Dave Graber from Storm.
12-1 Lunch while Ron has the lanes reoiled
1-? Bragging rights tournament
7-? More bowling - Poker at Geoff's

I think last years tournament was very fair, scores were pretty close to each other.  We will do the same thing this year.  Handicap will be 100% of 200, shoot 2 games on each lane condition.  Not sure what shots Ron will put out but we've always had one pair with the USBC shot on it.

Winner receives the coveted Bragging rights T-shirt plus the ball of his choice of what we have remaining, the remaining items will be given away by another drawing immediately following the tournament.
Sun

? 12 Free time (Another golf outing?
12-? Coaching from Ron for the people who don't have to leave early.

Ron will also be available for free lessons on Thursday for those of us arriving early.  Seems most of the [deleted] lefties need more coaching than normal bowlers so he is putting in that extra day.  Righties are welcome but are warned about the potential "whining" that is normally prevalent among that class of bowler.

Please message Strider or myself if you are interested in the poker tournament.  Nothing fancy, maybe $10 entry fee???  Geoff and I are welcome to suggestions.

If there is any activity you are interested in, let me know, I'll see what we can set up.

So far, the following companies have promised to donate equipment to the gathering.

LANE 1
DYNOTHANE
VISIONARY
STORM

As other companies sign up, I'll keep you posted.

Remember, the only cost for this event is $1 a game.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year.

Friday night Scotch Doubles:

Sign in starts at 8 pm, bowling starts at 8:30.  $25/couple for 4 games.  Handicap is 80% of 220 with a max of 55 pins added.  If you are coming in from out of the area, bring average verification.  They primarily use the 2004-2005 average since the new book isn't quite out yet, but will use the 2005-2006 if you are a new bowler or don't have the average printed on the old card.  Bring your ABC/WIBC/USBC card or a copy of your local average book that has your information.  They need something official otherwise you'll have to bowl scratch.  They only have dial up in the office and won't have time to look up a bunch of people on Bowl.com.

Since the Scotch doubles is on Friday, Saturday is probably the best time for the poker tournament.  I know people have mentioned wanting to play other places, but please sign up here so I don't have to search around.

Looking at the main post the people interested in poker are:

My house for the pool is fine also, depending on what everyone wants to do.  My house is less than 15 minutes from Creekside and close to the interstate, so it won't be a problem for the out of towners to find.  If you don't bring your laptop with you, you can email me a copy of the file.  Anyone wanting my cell phone # can PM me.  I'd rather not have it posted on a public forum.  I'm off the whole week before the Gathering.  My schedule actually works out well this year.

As I said before in the other thread, I am interested in pool.  However, I'll be using a "house cue."  I hope I don't do too much to mess up the shot.

Hey SrK --

Can you confirm the 9 a.m. start for Saturday?  Remember last year when the doors weren't even opened until 11:00!

I'll check with Ron to be sure.  Last year they open at 9 on Sat, Ron was up late Friday making up the T-shirts and didn't get there until about 10 or so.

If I remember correctly, we stopped practice around 10:30 for the meeting with Dave Graber from Storm.

In the past, we didn't really have that big of participation, maybe 20-25BR members.  Ron didn't really have to schedule anything, just kind of went with the flow.

Now that we are looking at around 75 people, he has to do a little more planning to make sure we don't run out of lanes or time.

we will probably have sign up for the Bragging Rights Tournament Sat morning during the meeting so Ron will know how many panes to set up.

I'm also going to have a drawing during the meeting/practice session and give away some Dynothane or Visionary equipment.

Your status is important.  If you are coming, please verify.  If you can no longer make it, let us know as well.  Like SrK said, Ron needs to have enough lanes set aside for us without losing business by blocking lanes that won't be used.

No change.  Count me in for all bowling activities.  My flight is scheduled to arrive in Raleigh Durham around 6 PM on July 19th.  I should be in Winston Salem around noon.  I fly home Monday.

With 3 flights between 6/29 and 7/24, I mixed up my arrival times.  It was Reno I had the early morning arrival.  I leave LAX for NC at 8:20AM, transfer planes in Vegas and leave Vegas at 10:20AM arriving in Raleigh Durham ar 5:55 PM.  So it probably means arriving in Winston-Salem around 9PM.

My tickets have been purchased, plane scheduled to land at 2:10pm the 21st and leave Monday morn.
I am bringing my partner for the scotch doubles tourney this year, have to be extra nice to her that week so she won't try and leave me spares I can't pick up.

call me blind, I never seen that post. Is it held there every year or does it move around the country? I'm from Wisconsin and last minute would be hard for me to pull off but I am definetly interested in going to something like this.
