BR2006 Schedule
« on: June 05, 2006, 05:25:52 AM »
Thought I'd throw out our schedule so those of you who want to golf, shop, or sightsee could have an idea of the times available to do a little planning.

Friday:

9-1 Golf Outing for those interested.
9-6 Instruction from Ron
6-? Supper as a group
8/9-? More bowling - Poker tournament at Geoff's

Sat

9-11 Practice on the Bragging rights tournament shot
11-12 Sponsors time, drawing for some of the donated equipment.  This year we have Ritchie Sposata, owner of Lane 1, possibly Dave Graber from Storm.
12-1 Lunch while Ron has the lanes reoiled
1-? Bragging rights tournament
7-? More bowling - Poker at Geoff's

I think last years tournament was very fair, scores were pretty close to each other.  We will do the same thing this year.  Handicap will be 100% of 200, shoot 2 games on each lane condition.  Not sure what shots Ron will put out but we've always had one pair with the USBC shot on it.

Winner receives the coveted Bragging rights T-shirt plus the ball of his choice of what we have remaining, the remaining items will be given away by another drawing immediately following the tournament.
Sun

? 12 Free time (Another golf outing?
12-? Coaching from Ron for the people who don't have to leave early.

Ron will also be available for free lessons on Thursday for those of us arriving early.  Seems most of the [deleted] lefties need more coaching than normal bowlers so he is putting in that extra day.  Righties are welcome but are warned about the potential "whining" that is normally prevalent among that class of bowler.

Please message Strider or myself if you are interested in the poker tournament.  Nothing fancy, maybe $10 entry fee???  Geoff and I are welcome to suggestions.

If there is any activity you are interested in, let me know, I'll see what we can set up.

So far, the following companies have promised to donate equipment to the gathering.

LANE 1
DYNOTHANE
VISIONARY
STORM

As other companies sign up, I'll keep you posted.

Remember, the only cost for this event is $1 a game.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year.

Looks like I will not be able to make it this year. Hopefully next year. Everyone have fun.

I still need names of people that will be attending the poker tournament at my house.  Darts, billiards, and homebrew will be available as well.  I also would like to see a vote as to what day/time works best for everyone.  I don't want to take away from the main bowling event, so either late Friday or after dinner time Saturday seems best.  I live locally, so Sunday is OK also, but most people will probably traveling by then.

Another possible event.  Ron tries to set up a mixed Scotch doubles event during the weekend.  Maybe that was Saturday night last time?  I ended up having to work nights last year and missed most of the fun  We always need more female bowlers, so don't forget to make room in the trunk for the spouses equipment.  It's 100% handicap and there will be all sorts of averages present.

Anyone who is arriving early or staying late, feel free to contact me.  I haven't lived in the area for real long, but can help you find your way around.

Just an update on this [deleted] lefty's bowling.  Over the last 2 weeks I have 2 200+ games in practice, 2 190+ games in practice.  When I practice score is not the focus so these were pleasant surprises.  League began last night 139 (a horrible start) 179 - 222.  So it is possible things are looking up, we'll se what Tuesday brings.

Though things are looking up I will take advantage of the coaching Thursday and Friday.  I am always open for good quality coaching!

As to the schedule...I don't play poker and I play pool about as good as I golf and I golf some awesome bowling scores.

Funny, I heard it was just the opposite.  Your bowling scores look more like good golf scores.

Count me in for poker and whichever night is fine.  Last year the scotch doubles was Friday.  I do play cards a little better than I bowl and yes I know thats not saying much.

Now my bowling was in the toilet for a while, but not so far down as to be good golf scores...though the way they were dropping, I thought that might become true

I can hardly wait to spar with my favorite lefty hater

You are correct JPRLane1.  The Scotch doubles is Friday night.  This is a regular event every Friday at Creekside, so it won't just be for the Ballreviews people.  I'll have to check on the time and handicap percentage.  I think it's $25/team and you can bowl with multiple partners.

I'll be arriving Friday, and I'd like to try to make it in for the Scotch Doubles.  What is the time on that?  Also, will it be difficult to find a partner for those of us out-of-towners?

P.S.  No poker or golf for me, thanks.

Rick, I think Scotch doubles starts around 8-9 PM Fri nite.  Colleen & Nina are the only ones I can think of that may need partners.  Lot of new people this year though, not sure how many unattached women bowlers will be there.  Pretty sure Ron can fix you up with someone.

Thanks, SR.  I shouldn't have any problem making it there by then.  I'm hoping to make it in time for dinner.
