Can Anybody Contact Impending Doom?
« on: September 10, 2020, 10:07:27 AM »
Hey BR, fam. I hate writing this, but I don't know what else to do.

I sent Impending Doom $115 for a NIB 900 Global ball back on June 4th, and he still hasn't shipped it. He gave a few reasons as to why (didn't get a chance to visit his storage bin, problems with his kids), and I've been patient with him - pandemics are hard and I understand everybody's got their stuff to handle. But 3+ months is a bit much.

I tried PMing him multiple times, but to no avail. I sent him an email earlier today in hopes of getting a response, but at this point I'm feeling like I was had. If anybody knows him, or has a phone number I can use to directly contact Doom, that would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: changed 5+ months to 3+, because I struggle with counting.

Something bizarre here is up..........was this a front all along?  :-\

Sure seems like it, doesn't it? His bowl.com profile if we have the right name, which im confident we do, make it seem like he wouldn't be staff material really makes you scratch your head.

Maybe he worked at a Pro-Shop for a bit and got a contract that way? I know a few folks that are average bowlers but get contracts because they run leagues as PSOs and can promote products all season long.

There was always something off with him. He was always talking about the new 900 Global releases and yet he never posted a single video of him throwing a ball, and he was always talking about the next ball he was going to drill and yet never drilled.

It always looked like he was on the loop with the new releases but never had any of them. It is pretty weird now that I think about it. How can you be on staff and never get to throw any of the new stuff? He was always comparing them with the older stuff that probably he got the chance to throw when he was on staff (if that ever happened)

Same thing he did when he moved to Motiv equipment. He claimed he went to a demo and from there he was basically reviewing every single ball from the Motiv lineup by just throwing it once or twice and he was always talking about which ball he was going to buy and which balls he was going to drill and guess what? He never did...

Seems pretty off to me, for me the guy maybe was on staff with 900 Global years ago, stopped bowling and kept saying he was on staff just because... I don't know what you guys think.

+1.

As I remember it he got the staff position because he ballyhooed 900G not because of bowling prowess.  Yes/no?  Also, he promised videos for years and never produced them.

An Advisory contract is pretty lax. You still pay for everything- at a reduced cost- so nothing really to lose for the company in financial terms. Interesting he was released from his Global deal when what does Global have to lose? Maybe someone found out about the lack of bowling and the gig was up. Who knows.

Can't argue w/any of this.  I remember requesting his vids at some point....always was a reason it never materialized..

Every time someone was asking him for advice regarding a new 900 Global release his response was "I haven't drilled yet, but I would go with 40x4x40 or whatever" and as scott said, he was always asking what do we want to see on the reviews that he was going to shoot, that never happened.

I mean, all this years bowling and not a single video/review coming from the guy? Red flag right there...

The fastest way to lose your staff contract, even advisory staff, is for it to be found out you are selling your staff balls.  You have to be a complete DB to lose an advisory staff deal.

Or....perhaps the name everyone assumes is correct is not?

It’s the right name.

And we know that how?

I'm just curious, I don't recall seeing anyone who bought from him coming forward saying it's the right name.

If you google the name the linkedin profile is an IT guy that works at a community college that can't seem to hold a job.  It's either the right name or somebody has been setting this up for a long time.
