Consistency in bowling...
« on: January 19, 2004, 08:40:20 AM »
The past week has proved to be well as far as my scoring consistency. After throwing 199-191-198 in my regular league last Tuesday, I subbed this evening in my friend's league at another house. The shot is typically anywhere outside of 5, but I knew that with the kids not having school today that the shot would be spotty and drier depending on the pair we were scheduled on. I decided to start with my Vortex particle and play 7-4 at 16 mph. There were 5 lefties on the pair, and we all played different lines (one straight up 4, one straight up 10, one crossing 10-3, another crossing 15-7). First game I had 5 strikes and 6 7 pins, missing one and shooting 224. Next game I made a 3/2 board move with my feet/target right and pushed 9-4. When I hit straight up 8 it held pocket. Strung together strikes, more single pins (missed another 7 pin) and a 6 spare count for a 226 game. Last game I moved one more board right and then could throw it a little harder to the gutter. More 8/9 counts and I ended with a 5 bagger for a 227 game. 677 on the pair. All the other lefties were between 550-630, and one rightie (my friend I used to bowl with in a scratch league 6 years ago) shot 720 at us with a 277 final game.

I felt great with my consistency and making modifications as I saw the ball enter pocket. Instead of changing balls, I stayed with the same one all night and felt good about that decision.

What consistency stories do you all have to tell? Do you feel better having a night when all the games are within 10 pins of each other, or would you rather see increases as the night progresses?
