What made you start bowling?

I was dating this girls who family bowled on Sunday nights and she invited me to bowl with them.  We hit the lanes and this was my first time trying to bowl and they where talking noise.  THAT IS WHAT SET IT OFF!!!!  I didnt come in last but wasn't the top bowler.  EGO is what started me to bowling --

We broke up and I still cant stand that girl...  :-)

My dad introduced me to bowling when I was 10.  We bowled in an adult/child league and we got 1st place.  I can't thank my dad enough for all the time he put in to help me be the bowler that I became.  Thanks Dad!!!!

Started out as something to do with friends when I was 13/14 years old, then I was asked by one of my friends to help him move a bunch of documents from thier car dealership to a building they just purchased. When we were done I got $100 for the day (I was 15 so it was alot of money). I decided I wanted to buy a bowling ball, my dad who never bowled in his life said he would go with me and pay the difference. Got a Pro-Active Zone 2.0 (i think?). Now I am bowling in 3 leagues, sub any night I can and work in a Proshop in one of the centers for fun and to learn.

Glad I moved those boxes now thats for sure....

When you are a military brat in a foreign country with nothing to do, there is really nothing else to do on base. I picked up my first bowling ball in Izmir, Turkey when I was 4 years old.

I started working in a bowling center when I was 15. They gave employees unlimited linage for free, so i'd go every day after school and bowl until my shift started.

My mom got me into a youth league when I was 5, and I've been bowling ever since then. Not a terribly exciting story...

My dad managed two different bowling alleys when I was little, didn't do it much then, but it was in my blood. It wasn't until we went to a party for my son's friend and got a flier to do a parent/child league, which we did for 3 years. Had a guy approach me one night when my son and and I were making up and he asked me to come to a meeting and join his team. That was 5 years ago, I don't bowl as much as I'd like, but thanks to my son and a guy named Joel I rediscovered a life long love. This is by far my favorite sport to coach and learn. There are so many things to it and where else can coaching any child so quickly bring a smile to their face.

I remember my first time bowling. My Dad and Uncle took us kids out to bowl, and we where on the last pair next to the walk way. My first ball I ever threw ( I was like 6 or 7 years old) I missed the fricken alley and threw it down the walk way and hit the oiling machine, I think I bowled a total of 1.
My Uncle said "that kid will never be a bowler", and now I am the best bowler in the family.
Funny how things start out sometimes.

Name says it all, mom and dad use to bowl. They started me bowling as soon as I could pick up a ball.

Both my partents were in a league and my brother and I were alley rats.  I never really bowled until I was about 17 years old, and only bowled for a couple of years when my parents would practice.  23 years later, my own kids wanted to bowl, so I would take them and bowl with them.  I wanted to get more into it, so I practiced, read books, got some coaching, and just finished my first league ever.  I'm not that great, but I love it, and my kids love it.  My kids are in a Junior Bowling Club and compete, so they have a big jump over what I had.

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.

My dad and I went bowling in 1997 on a Saturday afternoon and I got "hooked," from then on, but it wasn't my first time bowling I just loved the game after that day for some reason.  It was in November, so after a couple more times bowling I asked for a ball for Christmas and I got a blue plastic Brunswick Cosmic.  I wasn't really the athletic type in middle school (not meant to be offensive to anyone or belittle the sport) so bowling became my sport.  Shortly thereafter I joined a youth league, got lessons, got new equipment, developed my patented hand slap after a strike or spare, quit for a year, got back into it, quit for 5 years, got back into it, and so on.

This obnoxious fat kid up the street from me needed another team mate for his Saturday Morning League. The first day I didn't even finish the first game because I hated it. My dad made me keep doing it though, and now I am averaging 221 and love every second of it! xD

Started at age 10 in the bantam's because my dad bowled. Won 4 trophys my first year. 2 real (most improved, high game scratch) 2 not real (perfect attendance, personal high game). I was hooked.

Bowling is like life. Sometimes you are the ball. Other times you are the pins.
