What is the proper fit of the finger inserts to your fingers. [how tight should they be].

Hmmm, actually, I'm not sure either, but mine are just the right size; not too tight and not too loose. I've only seen people using either the just-right size or a little tighter, but never looser. Maybe you might want to see which is more comfortable for you?

I like for my grips to be tight - although not so tight that I can't get my fingers in the ball, of course. When they're loose I can't get the same hit on the ball.
To control this I leave the backs unglued and then I can insert or remove cardboard pieces to keep the fit "just right"!

The inserts that I use now fit snug and then after about a game they get to tight. So I don't know what to do.

If your inserts feel different at times, I have used these and they're pretty cool and hard to change in and out.

I tried these and they're decent, except that they're pretty thick relative to cardboard (like a business card). So after inserting one the finger goes from being a little loose to being too tight. I pretty much only use the cardboard now.

If you did want to use them, I'd leave the backs of your grips unglued and then insert the plastic piece between the grip and the ball when needed. You could do the same with business card as well, but make sure you cut/tear it long enough that it will stay in the hole.

Read this article how to get a better fit with grips if you have a problem with swelling fingers... like me.

Consistent Fit With Your Finger Inserts

It's the Turbo Grips method of the "vacu-grips" technique.

My ball driller, Mike Austin, does this for a LOT of his customers and uses it himself.  They feel great, but they do wear out quicker.

I prefer my fingers slightly looser.  There is a guy around here who used to tour (national) that has been known to take his inserts out when he meets certain lane conditions and throw the ball that way.  (so the ball is nearly conventional span with huge finger holes).  If the fingers are too tight I think I lose lift because I hang in the ball.

Mine are loose by many standards. My fingers easily slide in to the knuckle and I could jam them about half way to the next knuckle if I wanted to.

If you are loosing the ball it is not because of your finger grips it is caused by the thumb 99% of the time.

You grip the ball with the inside of your thumb and fingers. Your thumb provides the most surface area. Thumb holes being too large, too much pitch, and/or too much bevel will cause you to loose the ball. Most fingers are drilled at zero forward reverse so there is little variance there.

If you have the proper thumb and span you should be able to throw a ball with finger holes way too large.
