First ABC 700 . . . kinda
« on: July 08, 2003, 11:16:56 AM »
Well, it was the last three games of a four game set, so technically it doesn't count, BUT, it was in my summer sport league.  I shot 894 for all four, the highest in the league so far, and also I'm the first person to shoot 700 for either the front three or back three games.  I went 191-256-210-237.  The first game I struck, left a solid 8, dropped the ball and missed it, struck the next three, stuck, left a 10, stuck again, missed it, got the next few, and opened the tenth.  Next game I left the 4-7, made a good shot, and the ball backed up on me.  It does that pretty bad at this house, it'll hit the oil on the left side and start to skid, lol, maybe I shouldn't throw the ball so straight.  Anyway, then I got the next four, stuck, left a 10 (ball nearly went brook), picked it up, and went off the sheet.

The amazing part of this is that I'm averaging 178 in that league, and I've been frustrated with myself the entire way because I've averaged a lot better on harder conditions.  What happened though, is that I fixed the spans on my equipment not too long ago, and just a few days ago I fixed the ball I use the most on the sport pattern.  Bam.  Went from my high four game set being 756 to 894.  It's pretty amazing that not having a ball fit perfect can screw so much up.  I was even having trouble sliding tonight, like usual, but because my release was so clean, I could just slow my feet down and adjust my shot to compensate.  I moved about 5 boards left, and was still able to hit the same mark, and I was being really consistent tonight.  I'd almost forgot what it was like to have the ball feel good off my hand and watch it glide right out to my mark and then bury the pocket.  There was no guesswork tonight, everything was clicking like it used to.

A big thanks to all the suggestions and support, I haven't even shot 700 for three on the house shot league I'm bowling this summer.  Gives me a big boost as far as rebuilding my confidence.  The accuracy I remember has returned, and it'll only get better from here!

The only difference between youth and adult leagues are that the big boys are allowed to whine.  They're more entertaining anyway.

Noooo.  About 4 year old synthetics, it's the house I've had trouble carrying in.  It's kinda funny too, I had a solid 8 pin last night, but that was the only bad carry I got all night.  Really surprising for a house that usually leaves a lot of junk on good shots.
