95% of us on the board have bowled for a very long time, the game has become very natural to us to where we can pick up a ball without thinking and execute a decent shot.
My question/observance is this. I find myself when i make an error on a shot, i execute differently, such as perhaps i am playing 12 and i miss to 9 the shot will be much slower and i will have came around the ball and i will hit the pocket and strike. Or perhaps i pull the ball inside my mark 2-3 boards, i find it is much firmer with alot more end over end rotation.
because of my steep backswing i have a tendency to open up at corner pins, and in my third step if i do, many times my eyes change targets on the lane if i am shooting at 20, they switch to 23 because of the difference in my swing plane. I have find 99% of the time i still make my spare
I find myself subconsiously doing things in my mechanics i am not aware of, but because i am aware of the lanes and condition, i find myself making changes as late at my 4th step or even at my release to ensure getting as close to the pocket as possible.
My question is this. Is it because we bowl so much we develope a feel for what if we have an error in our mechanics, our mind realizes it and takes the necessary adjustments to compensate, much like when driving we steer the wheel quickly out of the way of an oncoming animal when one runs out in front of us, we don't think we just do.
Does anyone else feel or find themselves doing this? Now obviously this doesn't work as well on tougher conditions, but even when i bowled on pattern C a few weeks ago i would find if i threw the ball hard i would put more side rotation on it, to get it up to the pocket and if i threw it slow i would not hit it quite as much to ensure it doesn't bite hard.
Does our mind read more into the condition than we ever even notice?
am i just crazy or does anyone else have this happen to them?
