Last night of league, we do a fun team bracket single elimination tourney for the top eight teams. This is the week after the sweeper. The lanes on the end we were bowling had just been resurfaced - they'd put the coat on last Friday. Talk about interesting!!!

There were two distinctly different conditions, but both were almost unplayable. I seem to remember it taking a couple of weeks for the oil to settle down and quit moving around on resurfaced lanes. Anyone have a different experience???

Actually last year right after the resurfacing here I experienced the same type of thing. I was in practicing right after they had done the lanes.

Wow the reaction was all over the place. I talked to one of the lanemen and he said it was very normal. Once they cured they would be right back to a normal reaction. Turned out he was right.

Depends on how bad the lanes were before resurfacing. They get more consistent than they were with the bumps, wear and finish problems, but we tend not to think so because we are used to the shot as it has developed. The lanes cure and the shot changes, all more consistent within a set that the lanes were before the resurface.

I remember several years back...Pro 300 lanes resurfaced the whole house. I got to bowl on them shortly after they finished. It was quite interesting to say the least. I found that there was no way on earth to control reactives. Luckily I had just purchased a pearl urethane claw, and was going to test it out. Playing outside, around 5 or so, the forgiveness and smooth reaction of the pearl urethane completely took the "unplayable" condition of the lanes out of play. Maybe your situation would call for the same.

you ought to try bowling on a fresh set with the owners only stripping once every 3 MONTHS...... now you wanna talk about challenging!!!!!!!!!
