Fun Ways to Gamble While Bowling

New season is starting and looking for ways to non-traditional ways to gamble my money away while bowling.

As of now we have a card game (nudie) that starts off with a $1 entry fee. You can incur many penalties that cause you to put another dollar in.  Penalties include, but are not limited to:
Only one not striking in the frame
Three opens in a row
Five opens in a game
Teammate beating your score by 100 pins
Gutter ball, etc
(if you want a complete list of our rules, PM me and I will send them to you)


My buddy and I (same league, diff teams) have also started a mini fantasy pot.  We each draft three other league bowlers every week and match them up.  Winner of each match gets a point and the most points at the end of the year wins the pot.  We are thinking about gauging interest from the rest of the league to see if they want to join in.  It could be a lot of fun!

Does anyone have any other games/ideas I could bring into the fold?    I would be interested in hearing other options for sure!

Survivor Pot  $5 entry cut half after first game and again after second game everyone still in for third game will at least get there money back.

we play skins
everyone puts a quarter in for each from (12 quarters, 3 bucks) if you are the only one to strike that frame you win the "skin" it carries over from frame to frame as long as two people strike, been times it can carry over for weeks (3 bucks each game, gotta keep contributing)

Those are called eliminators.  Normally you only pay the top 3 for the last game.  If you have 20 to start, you cut it to 10, then 5, then top 3.  Payout is 50%, 30%, 20%.  So if you have 20 people at $5 payout would be $50 for first, $30 for second, and $20 for third.

Dollars for hangers. You get hung you pay a dollar to the pot. Unlimited so it means something so no one can slink out with only paying 1 a game

That fantasy thing is a neat idea, lol.

Perhaps a team strike pot would be fun, everybody puts a dollar or two or whatever you want in and you pick random frames to strike in during your set.  If you win, you get the pot.  If nobody gets it, the money carries over to next week, until someone wins.  A lot of bowling allies around me USED to do that, until the stupid NJ crackdown on gambling in bowling allies.  Now allies are hesitant to do that, which is sad because it's fun.  But doing it between friends and your team would be fun, and easier then having to get a whole ton of strikes too, lol.

A little twist to the card game would be you have to mark in the 10th or it's an automatic fold (throw all your cards in). This summer i was sitting on 4 of a kind and got a blower 7-10 in the 10th = instant looser

One of the leagues around here actually runs Fantasy Bowling. Kind of like your fantasy idea, only its a full league season. Everybody interested has a draft at the beginning of the season with all the bowlers in the league eligible to be drafted. Three man teams. Its actually pretty neat, and it helps to stop dumping too.

The third game is called Jeopardy.

We usually get 4-5 teams around our pair to play, and each girl chips in a buck.  The one who stays clean wins the pot, or the one with the fewest opens in the third game wins the pot.

Nightly Bowling Enhancement:
$1 per game on poker per game, high hand wins.

Push quarters the 5th strike wins the quarters, everyone antes up and starts over and is continuous through 3 games.

Hanging: get hung you buy the beer, limited to one per game per person.

Bonus Pot (team Prize Fund)
Every missed a spare cost you .05 (including splits)
every time a mate throws a XX it cost everyone .05
every strike after the XX in succession cost everyone .10
all funds are accumilated from each night and at the end of year divided up among the team as extra prize fund.

3 X in a row cost you a dime, every strike after that another dime, strike out in the 10th carries over to next game
get stuck it's a quarter,
miss you average that'll cost you .50
this pot pays for our city and state team entry. plus at the end of the year were looking at another $75-$100 ea,

Thast a lot of freaking dimes, the bank hates seeing us

Being around a few places and bowling around the country, none knows how to gamble money at the sport of bowling than Hawaii does.  It completely floored me when I won my first jackpot.

1) Have a doubles jackpot where you can team up with anyone in the league at $1.00 or $2.00 a person, you can have different catagories of doubles
examples: (open w/hndcp)/mixed/team/scratch).  Don't announce the which games are which until 1/2 way through the 3rd game by random draw (helps prevent sandbagging).  Pots can definitely get high.

2) Brackets

3) Eliminator/Survivor

4) Strike Syndicate ($0.25/$1.00 per frame/person, until only one person strikes)

Just a few ideas.

We used to do this:

A turkey will get you $1 from each teammate.  6 in a row is $2 from each, 9 in a row $3, 12 would be $4.

If you get "hung" in a frame you pay each teammate $1.
