How many of you here on the forums....

do NOT use finger inserts? If you do use inserts, have you ever bowled without them? Also, how many of you have issues with perspiration really bad while bowling and is there a difference if you use a thumb insert verses a slug? Thanks in advance people.

personally, I have a bit of arthritis and the flat ovals I use give me a little cushion. I don't really need any help on the revs either, that's why I'm constantly fluffing it against the wall.

NO inserts, I either hang in them, or the ball will fall off my hand if my finger's are too swollen.  Plus like somebody already said you don't have to constantly replace them anymore.

I also feel I'm more consistent with the release since I can hold the ball better.  I also get a better reaction out of the ball since most of my finger strength isn't wasted on the inserts.  I don't have to force a ton of hand into the ball to get it to move the way I want to either.

Never will go back to inserts ever ever ever again.

I have a question for you non-grip majority posting in this thread:
do you use tape or anything else on your fingertips, or just bare finger to coverstock. I used to have the fingers oval shaped w/no grips also. Maybe I should go back, 'cause I generally get too much on the ball. like I said before I use the grips basically for comfort. I don't relate at all to all the "hanging up" you guys are speaking of though, I've never experienced that.

i've used fingergrips since i went to a fingertip grip. will only use vise grips brands as they have the best range of sizes and the best feel. i also use a urethane thumb slug. ever since reactive balls came out my thumb will hang without the slug. again, i prefer vise grips brand urethane slugs as they feel the best.

I do NOT use finger inserts. I like the feel and release of no inserts much better. Also I have no finger problems without inserts. I do not like the "grippy" soft feel of inserts. I feel I get a better, more consistent release without them. The way I work my fingers out, swelling is not an issue like with inserts:my fingers always fit perfectly. Also, don't have to deal with wear and the changing feel.

I used inserts for the last 17 years, since I went fingertip. just this May I changed a couple of them over to no inserts. Am now changing all of my equipment. I went through them like water. I found that I like to go just a little past the knuckle joint on the fingers and when the grips would wear down they would cut into my fingers as well as getting occasional swelling. Not to mention hanging up sometimes in the summertime. Now I have no finger issues. I do like the feel of a little piece of white tape for the pads of my fingers though.

Havent tried anything on the thumb though, havent had a need to.
