I thought I already bowled on the great wall . .
« on: September 11, 2003, 10:35:44 PM »
I've found it, the easiest condition known to man.  Most Topeka bowlers are pretty spoiled, but with Laneshield in one of the houses now, (and finally a shot that at least resembles a normal pattern) it's become the premier wall in America.  You don't quite have 3 arrows, due to the dryness of the pattern from 10 and out, but with a pearl urethane or plastic ball, you just might.  Steps to scoring are as follows:

1.  Get a pearl ball, or polished solid with average or more skid and backend.
2.  Throw hard.
3.  Throw right.
4.  Turn around and go sit down.

The only issues are carry and track burn.  The back row can be stubborn sometimes (lost a couple points because of 8 pins last week), and the 10 is hard to kick out, but finding the pocket is ridiculously easy.  The backends stay fresh, and they're strong.  The resident tweener shot 779 last week due to a couple big splits and 3 or 4 10's.  A couple weeks ago he shot 790-something.  The owner said in the paper that the house averages 20+ 700's a week (I thought it was a lot higher number, carry must be a larger factor than I thought), and has already had around 10 honor scores through the first 4 weeks.  From a house that had near that number for all of last year, (15 or so, I think) it could end up being a joke by the end of the year if there isn't room in the paper for the honor roll list.  Let's see, 2 honor scores a week, multiplied by 36 . .  Yep.  An annual tournament is coming up in November, the Gardner Masters.  For anyone in the area that can even hit a 5 board area consistently, come out, but know the scores are gonna be ungodly in the early shifts.  Track burn is gonna show up around 4 or 5 games, but you'll just have to move left or throw harder.  Anyone that's interested, message me and I'll send you information.  If you're from the surrounding area, come up and throw a few games some day, you'll be pretty surprised.

Forget Ron Bahr, I know his hot wife . . and her hot daughter . . . .

Being in adult leagues teaches you many things.

1.  You're not on top anymore, but there are a lot more people that suck worse than you do now.

2.  The myth about the youths having an easier shot is NOT TRUE.  I'd have an entire ring collection if it was.

3.  Drunk adults are a lot funnier than drunk youths.

Careful Hamster... Ron may be waiting for you with a shotgun next time you visit his house! LOL.

Personally, I hate the wall.  Takes away 10 boards of playing area for me, as I seem to have a peculiar style where everything seems to jump too early and hard off of the dry.  Also, I get tired of leaving those frekin' 8 and 9 pins when throwing a pearlized urethane!  maybe if I dropped to a 10 lb. ball I wouldn't leave those any more.  Ok, enough whining or everyone will think I'm a lefty!
Go on over there and get you a couple rings Hammy!

Lol, I know him WELL enough that I can get away with comments like that . .  Anyway, I hate the wall too.  I've got the kind of shot where I'd like playing 3rd arrow, getting it out a little early, letting it hang in some oil around 6 or 7 board, and blasting it back when it hits backend.  I luuuuv sport patterns!  If I carry, I WILL have a ring, no doubt, but also no skill, lol.
