Heavy Oil Ball
« on: December 13, 2016, 09:00:18 PM »
Heavy Oil ball suggestions? Need a new one. Last one was a Haywire, and it just never paired for me. Cover overpowered the core for my style too much. I'm wondering if I should try doing surface to a MH category ball.

To give an idea, what I've been experiencing is struggling in the early games/on the fresh of these heavier sport patterns. Once they get 2-3 games on them I can pull out the Primal Fear and do just fine. I am adding a Dream On soon as well. I guess long story short, I need to fill my Heavy oil control ball position. I feel like the Dream On will handle the MH-H Angular position before transitioning to a strong pearl. I would prefer more diff than the Haywire brought to the table though.

That helps... and gives you a lot of options to choose from.  ;D

Absolute Nirvana, Grudge, Tyrant, Warrior Supreme, Scandal, Paradox, No Rules, and Alpha Crux comes to mind as the top dogs in that mold for each of those companies. I doubt you would be too disappointed with any of them. My suggestion would to be get whatever one of them you can at the best price.

For what it's worth I threw my Absolute Nirvana for the first time last night and... wow. Very strong, continuous move towards the pocket. If we were anywhere near the top of the standings to compete in position round next week I probably would have switched from it in the first game. But we weren't so I wanted to see what it had to offer as the lanes dried out. Definitely not something to be used when it dries out, but not exactly all roll up front either. It's clean enough to give you nice angle entry to the pocket.

Thanks for the info on the Absolute, the description you give sounds like what I need. I'll do some price comparisons and read through some more reviews. Apparently the Alpha Crux has a bit more pop than I thought too as I watched a few use it in a recent tournament.

Just had another thought. If the Dream On works out well for me, I wonder if it might be worth it to get a second drilled more control and add surface.

I honestly think that if you took that ball to 1000 and use a strong still, you could use it on 50 feet of clam chowder.

Sold! haha but I will strongly consider a second one setup accordingly if the first one pans out well.

I'm eyeing the Phaze II for the slot as well.
