...what shoes would you buy? I've been saving pot money all year and definitely need a new pair. I previously bought Brunswick Zones, because they were cheap, and now they are cracked all over the place. I have never had a pair with interchangeable heels/soles. Is it really a big deal or does a slide sock accomplish the same thing?

I am looking at the Dexter SST7E but want to know if they are worth the $$. The best price I found online was $125 with no shipping. Anyone know what they are going for at Nationals?

Uh.... The ones I have. A good pair of bowling shoes are the most common thing bowlers overlook. If you can't slide or can't stop, you can't throw good shots.

Tour Ultras, hands down. If you don't need 3G-labeled shoes to bowl PBA tournaments, you can get by with the Dynorooz version (same shoe, different name). If that is the case, send a PM to tekneek, he's got 'em on sale right now.

I have the older ABS tour ultras and I like them a lot, but have had problems breaking in the heels. Best shoe I have ever had was a pair of custom Linds. They lasted forever and had a great slide. Only problem was the sole wasn't interchangeable. I know Linds has an interchangeable sole now, but not sure on their durability of late.

I know I didn't suggest anything, but rest assured, any shoe you chose will be better than what you have now. All top-of-the-line shoes have plusses and minuses so it depends on what means most to you.

I just upgraded from SST7's to 3g Tour Ultra's. Hands down the Tour Ultra's are better shoes!

i just bought a pair of dexter sst6 se's. all i can say is wow. they fell amazing and are more comfortable than some street shoes. the interchangeable soles really come in handy some times.. imo i think there worth the couple extra bucks.

like mentioned before if you cant slide right, your not going to throw good shots.

There are good deals on ebay with Brunswick shoes (made by dexter). They are the same as the SST 5's I believe, interchangable heels and soles, somewhere around $75-$80 shipped.

Tekneek from this site also has some outstanding deals on some Dynoroo's. Message him, or look for his offer in the for sale section.

the only choice would be 3G's tour ultra's. made from kangaroo leather which is at least twice as strong as cowhide and much more supple, these shoes have top notch quality and construction. they come with an almost limitless variety of slide sole and heel combinations and are comfortable from the get-go.

Having a size 17 shoe I just steal a pair from the front desk. They are suprisingly unused

Another vote for the Tour Ultra's. I have the older ABS as well. Very comfortable and durable-hardly show any signs of of use in 4 1/2 years of bowling at times several times a week.

3 Shoes are top of the line:
3G (no longer Dynothane) Tour Ultras
Dexter SST 7 SE
Brunswick Classic

All of these will offer multiple options for soles and heals, with money not an option, 3G would probably be the top of the top of the line. It cost the most but this shoe has more options and more accessories than the other two. Accessories include: A cleat sole with cleats, Shoe Horn, Shoe Carry-All, Slide Sole Cover, Form Keepers, and a Cleat Pick. The shoe also has Kangaroo leather. Have you ever felt of a Kangaroo? Well, neither have I but the Kangaroo leather is the most comfortable. Also, interchangeable toe cap.

If money were an issue though, I would probably go with the Brunswick. Its the best deal. The Brunswick is made by Dexter and is basically the same as the SST 6 & 7 but less expensive. Comes with plenty of options on soles and heals, accessories such as a shoe cover, shoe bag and individual bags for slides and heals.
