« on: March 10, 2008, 12:07:19 AM »
so in the last couple of seasons I have noticed that I have had better luck with older gear, Been using my Hercules alot in league, last season an old Ti Surge was the only ball I scored decent with all my newer stuff was a little much.

That said what do you use in leagues?

Now it's a Blue Vibe and a Cherry Vibe (plus the Blue Dot). Operator issues are being corrected.

Pretty much Shift and Mystic.  Shift is more aggressive for me and I just work those off of each other.

Mostly older stuff works very well for me.  Recently been using of my Visioanry equipment.  Scorcher NPT '99 ball, Blue/Green Centaur '00 ball and a DT Solid Black Vendetta '04 when I need a ball that will roll earlier.

My shoulder thanks me after bowling.

Is the game becoming throwing ie. throw the ball or bowling ie. roll the ball?

Mystic and a polished saturn.  There has been a definite oil shortage of late.

I'm now bowling in three leagues in one house (my ball driller hurt his knee and I'm finishing out the season for him in his two leagues), and one league in another.  I have not thrown anything but my Special Agent (box finish, 2000 abralon) the past three weeks or so in all three of those leagues in the first house on synthetic lanes.  We've had a lot of oil up front, and my ball speed is too high to throw anything pearl on that.

On Saturday nights in the other house on wood lanes, we get a second shift shot for the most part, they just run the heads only just before we bowl so the ball doesn't hook at your feet.  I've had good and bad results with every ball I've got in that league.  I had a 300 with the Special Agent one night, but any another night it might hook too early or too late or be over/under.  The Total NV (4000 abralon) seems to carry well some nights but hang lots and lots of 10s other nights.  As an experiment, I pulled an old Storm Eraser Banshee out of my basement last week and got it plugged, I'm going to redrill it Rico and throw a 2000 grit finish on it and see if that can give me a different look.

My league and tournament arsenal comprises the following

- Ice Storm (spares)
- Slate Blue Gargoyle OOB (light to dry)
- Revolution Renegade OOB (medium to medium-dry)
- Frankie May Gryphon 2.000 grit (medium to medium-heavy)
- Fuze Eliminator 1.500 grit (medium-heavy and more)

So, the Ice Storm is the only current ball in my line-up - and just because it is a hard polyester that has currently become available.

Even though I have morte modern and strong asymmterical stuff, I prefer these simpler and partly pretty old balls. But they work very well for me, and offer the easy feedback from the lane, paired with a good margin for error, for which I am looking in sport bowling balls.

I am trying to learn how to not throw the ball like a sissy so I am hoping I can get to using my Special on a house shot again

Right now it is like Johnny Just About Any Sport Condition Ball and I miss using it in league.

Four leagues in four different Centers.

House 1, 7:30 pm .. MoRich LevRg;
House 2, 12:45 .... AMF Heist;
House 3, 6:30 pm .. Rotor Grip Cell;
House 4, 1:00 pm .. AMF Night Hawk Pearl.

Always carry a 2nd ball to each league, a different one for each house!
