Lane play / ball selection question
« on: October 18, 2005, 04:52:33 AM »
Stats are in profile...  I have been bowing in a scratch league on a second shift condition after a ladies league.  Fresh shot is 40ft medium-heavy oil on AMF synthetics.  After the ladies league, most of the oil from 10 board to 15 board (right side) has been pushed down to the pin deck... Its tough to get a ball down the lane here and getting a consistant reaction in this area of the lane is sketchy at best.  There is some dry around the 5 board and out, but it seemes as though you need a ton of angle through the heads to get it out there.  Again, the ball wants to check up early.  People who have been scoring are either 1) left-handed as they have avoided this entire situation and basically have a fresh shot or 2) have a ton of speed / revs and can get the ball through the heads to the outside of the lane and have enough to bring the ball back and carry.
I have had some success playing a very tight line to the pocket inside, but have had horrid carry due to the lack of backends (carry down and my inability to create backend).  I've tried weaker pearl equipment through the dry area (10-15), but it again lacks the backend to finish.  I have also tried playing further outside with weaker equipment (around 5 board), but my consistancy out there is lacking and I have been experiencing lots of over reaction...

How would you go about playing this condition from the right side and what type of equipment would you try to use?
Thanks,
S^2
