league champion magnets....

.... are somewhat less than disappointing.  PLUS!!! They don't even have the year/season on them, so I guess the USBC can use these same magnets in perpetuity! True enough that the cloth patches weren't all that great, but I do know of a lot of folks that did sew them on their bowling shirts or jackets.  Personally, I think a nicely done(frameable) paper certificate would be a lot better.  These magnets are just plain TACKY.....

Are they that cheesy?  I haven't seen any of the magnet awards yet.  2 teammates shot 700 series and should be getting those soon, although league is over so I don't know if they will be mailed, or just get them at the start of next season.

The pin magnets looked pretty decent on the website - look to be raised.  I guess the other ones are just flat magnets like you would get from Dominos or other carry out place?

I would prefer something I could actually use, like a keychain.  Although I don't really need another keychain and probably wouldn't use it.  At then it could go in my shoebox full of keychains and other souvineers

RB, I know what you mean about the plaques and displays.  My dad got one from the pentagon when he retired.  He always joked that at least he'd always have $25 hanging on the wall if he needed money!  Think they are Susan B. Anthony coins.

Still, not sure how many people would actually make a display with their patches and pins, but I'm guessing it would look really cool if done right.

A paperweight might be okay.  My department ordered a bunch of awards to give out, but for some reason they never did.  A few of us managed to snag a few when they first came in.  They are cheesy clear pryamids with a globe inside - has absolutely nothing to do with our company or department function, but they would have been cool if they were job or company related.  I imagine something with a bowling theme would be nice to keep on the desk.

What if they implemented some sort of point system?  Think Dave and Busters or Chuck E. Cheese.  Instead of an award you would get points.  Those points could be redeemed for awards or other items - maybe gift cards, store discounts or something like that?

Let's face it, the reason we get patches and magnets is because they are small and easy to ship.  Start shipping paperweights and bigger items and you'll see the sanction fees go up.  These patches and magnets are low dollar awards, probably less than $1 each.  Most of our fees are going to pay administrative costs - rent, utilities, salaries, web hosting, advertising, etc.

Besides, average over 200 and you don't qualify for any awards other than the 11 in a row, 300, 800, and 900 series.

The national charter shouldn't even be supplying any sort of league awards - that should come out of the league prize fund if you decide you want anything other than a cash payout!
