Length Question

I have a Hammer Doom and usually i play straight down the second arrow on the right and it goes long and snaps into the pocket for a strike. Last night it did this for the first part of the first game and the it was not getting any length. It was biting early and going across the head pin. I have put many games on the ball, do you think i need to take it back to its OOB surface, i think its 4000 with polish? I was thinking of a hot water bath then taking it back to OOB. Does this sound like the thing to do or is there another problem i may have overlooked regarding my ball's length? Thanks!

it might not be the ball's fault, it could have been the lane, give it another week or so.

I'm no expert but I think that it's not the ball's fault because a worn ball would bite less not more. It must be the lane condition.

The thing that you overlooked is the oil. A ball will not skid on the dry. Lane conditions will change. Im sure if you moved your feet and target around a little it would have been ok.

Generally, a hot bath is for removing oil out of a ball that is not hooking as much as it used to

It could be both the conditioner (oil) and the ball. I know it USED to be stated that over time the surface of the lane wore a ball to roughly 800 grit in the track area.
