and the new ball is for sale.

There's guy even selling a Crux with 1 game?! And it's for sale.......

I guess I don't get it, maybe they get free balls or very cheap NIBs.

I don't even list the number of games on a ball anymore when selling, it's kinda like the user car tale of "Owned by an older lady who only drove it to church"

I don't get it either but also I have given up plugging and redrilling balls if you have tried a surface change and you can see the layout just isn't going to work for you and you can sell the ball at a decent price because it's hot ball for the time being til the next new hot ball comes along.  One to three games isn't enough to know for most of us.

Example I drilled an Uproar 14 lb. 2.61 .030 and made it too long of a pin to PAP (5.25") to suit my stats.  It's an average ball for me on the conditions I purchased it for.  If I would have went (4.50" or even slightly shorter) with a smaller VAL angle it would have been a better ball for me.  Live and learn.   :)

It doesn't matter what it costs, if it doesn't roll good for you, it just doesn't roll good for you.  And if you are good at reading ball reaction it's a shot or two to realize this, not games or weeks.

I get a lot of new stuff. More then needed for bowling one day a week. If a ball rolls good out the gate you use it. If it rolls like stuff you already you may tweak surface and try again and then decide is it worth keeping or selling.

If you don't love it you don't throw it and then whats it worth? The longer a ball is out the less people pay for it on resell. (especially on high performance balls). I sell a lot of balls with less then ten games. The ones I keep will get a lot of games and eventually get left behind or donated because its finally done or ive got a good replacement.

Currently I have a DV8 Thug that will be sold with less then ten games. Good ball but similar to others I have and currently dont use.

To each their own.

Personally, I never try to evaluate a ball until it has a little "track" on it, about 12+ games. I had a ball, I hated out of the gate, but then loved the more I used it.

I have a guy that chronically sells things after barely throwing them.  I keep trying to tell people to let the ball get a track into it and see what happens after several games, but some people feel like they know instantly.  Guy sold a Bad Ass for 50 bucks after throwing it for literally 5 frames.  His previous record was 10 frames.

Ball surface is adjusted in as little as 3 games. Jayhawk has a great video posted using their surface scanner to show how quickly it changes in a bowlers track.

This could have been an instance of trying a grip modification and immediately realizing it didn't work.  I'd just plug and redrill the ball myself, but some customers just won't throw a ball that's been plugged.  --  JohnP

Currently own a Lord field bloody cross which was jumpy at first. Its been 12 games or so and it has settled down. I've also owned balls that were perfect off the press, then wacked out after 9 games or so.

 Seen that a lot around here.  Once even had a guy demand his ball be replaced due to the thumb pitch not being perfect after drilling. He refused to throw a plugged thumbhole ball, so we got him another one, and plugged the thumb on it. Sold the plugged one to a guy who proceeded to shoot 300/820 with it. The original guy had the nerve to come back and say that we screwed up his "good" ball, took it away from him, resold it to a "friend", and replaced it with a "bad" one because we didn't like him. Really happened.

 Two of my 300's, and my only 800, have been with balls that had some plug in them. Ain't nothing wrong with a little bit of plug material, as long as it's done right.
