lol! Mushtare in 204TH PLACE! LOL
« on: July 11, 2006, 01:35:11 PM »
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Heading into the 2006 United States Bowling Congress Junior Gold Championships, Robert Mushtare of Carthage, N.Y., had a simple goal. He wanted to average 200 for the tournament.

After two days of qualifying, Mushtare, the only bowler in history to have two certified 900 series, has some work to do to reach his goal. For his first 12 games, Mushtare has totaled 2,234, an average of 186.2.

The 17-year-old right-hander had games of 164, 200, 162, 188, 197 and 177 for 1,088 on Tuesday at Don Carter Tamarac Lanes for a 1,088 total. After Monday's first round, Mushtare sat in 204th place with 1,146.

"I think when I originally set my goal that it was reachable and it still is," said Mushtare, whose two pre-bowled 900 series were officially recognized by USBC last month. "It's going to take a good score tomorrow, but with all the attention and everything it has added pressure that I really didn't need."

Throughout his first two days of competition, Mushtare has been shadowed by a camera crew from ESPN's "Outside the Lines." The segment is tentatively scheduled to air on ESPN in late July.

In order for Mushtare to advance at the Junior Gold Championships, he must have a strong showing in the final six games of qualifying Wednesday. Early projections indicate he needs to average at least 210 to have a chance to make the first cut. The top 154 males will advance to the semifinals on Thursday.

let's just say it was a couple years ago when i had award scores coming out of my butt! (10 300's and 11 800's averaged 249 and 248 in 2 leagues) I went to a PTQ and averaged low 200's, then went to another PTQ and averaged 187. I was humbled to say the least. Now i just keep my mouth shut. I never thought i was a 249 average bowler. It's cause and effect. soft conditions and monster equipment makes for adult bumper bowling!

Hmm... How high do you actually have to average to make it in a regional?  Averaging low 200s seems really good to me.

this year, i missed cash at one regional when i was +45 for 8 games, another i missed by 80 when i shot even.

i've kept an average of 201 in sport, and highest game in sport is 279(on a flood, total flood, no area of dry.. talk about tough stuff..

at my ihsb tournament about 3 weeks ago, on 3 different patterns, i averaged a 198 and won that tournament. out of 78 games, on 3 tough patterns, 458 people, 128 in first cut, i won it. i dont think i did too bad.

From everything you've posted on here, you are 15 and have only been bowling for a short time, and all of your scores you list seem to practice scores.  HamPster would be so proud.

Throwing a few games on a sport pattern, even if I believe you, don't count as an "average".  No one shoots a 279 on one of their first attempts on a sport shot, so at least try to keep your BS believable.  Many of these patterns seem like heavy oil because they have oil both outside of 7 and longer than 36' which is foreign to many bowlers.  VERY few places put out a true flood.  It's too expensive, too many people complain about the low scores, and it rarely differentiates the good bowlers from the bad.

http://www.ihsb.org/2005-06/state_finals/index.htm

It looks like the state championship was only 3 games.  Why was "your" tournament 78 games on 3 different patterns?  Was it handicap or scratch?  I'd like to see some more info or a link.

Everyone who wanted Robbie to fail is getting what they want.  Like just about everyone else, I'm pretty sure he cheated on the 900's, but at least he's giving it a shot.  He had little to gain and everything to lose.  His chances of earning respect or even looking good would be equal to that of Mike Tyson boxing Mother Theresa.  He's bowling poorly, but not awful.

And as much as it pains me to say it, thank you to HammerBowler for trying to reel some people in.

Of all the other guys who have shot 900, do you think any of them would average 186 on a sport shot??? exactly my point, they would be somewhere in the 215 range..

I don't know where you get your insight into other bowlers that have shot 900, but I personally say James Hylton (one of the other 900 bowlers) shoot 394 in a tournament that was somewhere between house and sport.
