Looking for a plastic ball with a weight block
« on: September 09, 2009, 08:07:24 AM »
I am looking for a friend that has a lot of revs and needs something for when the lanes break down.  Is there a ball with a plastic coverstock and a weight block in it?

all three of those will be more than sufficient for broken down lanes, unless this guy has a ton of revs and throws it about 5 mph

aparently you dont have any hand, if you did you would know that on broken down lanes and any hand plastic is a great choice.

i'm not saying plastic isn't a great choice, moron, i'm saying that i highly doubt he has that much hand to where a polished urethane won't have the same if not better effect

None of those are plastic, as the OP has stated he is looking for. All will hook more than plastic, even when said plastic ball has a block.

FYI Polyester, urethane and resin are all plastics.

If you mean polyester, say "polyester".
If you mean urethane, say "urethane".
If you mean (reactive) resin, say "(reactive) resin".

(Particle can mean anything. Say what you mean.)

If once still can be found, I have a Visionary infra-red amulet which works quite nicely. Also, although an older ball, I believe there are still afew ebonite Pinnacle balls on ebay, they date back to approx 1991-92, plastic with a core.

I have both a (pearl urethane) Slate Blue Gargoyle and a (polyester) XXXL.  There is a big difference between the two.  If his friend is rev dominant, I'd be inclined to recommend the plastic as the OP asked about.  Old Ebonite Wolf's and Gemstones might be available if you're looking at Ebay.  Be careful with the Wolf's.  I know there was a resin version as well.  But currently available is the (Starburst) XXXL.  I love my red XXXL.

Old Ebnoite Clear Wolf, Wear Wolf, and the Lane 1 StarBurst are the only 3 I can think of.

The Slate Blue Gargoyle moves as much as a weak resin on many conditions. It is far stronger than plastic and stronger than a lot of other urethane balls. Heck, it's stronger than many weak resins.

The XXXL Starburst is the only one still in production. And yes, it's a lot different animal than a pancake-block polyester ball. I think the other companies are badly missing the boat by not making one, and with Lane #1 currently not PBA-registered, it's sad that folks wanting to bowl in regionals don't have this option.
