Maybe the PBA can get back to bowling
« on: November 02, 2003, 06:49:17 PM »
Boy….. Now that the PBA finally got their left handed winner maybe they’ll start to even the sides out.

I don’t know if Jeff Smith could average 200 in one our leagues around here and there he was on the show. They sure must have been easy during the week on the left. Much easier than the right.  At least 10 lefties in the top 32,  8 of the top 16 and 3 on the show for the second consecutive week.

As I’ve if they want to make a star it will have to be on the left. You automatically eliminate over 80% of the field. Cater to a certain style a lefty might only have to beat a couple of other lefties on a consistent basis. They’ll make the show every week just like Anthony in the 70’s. Instant star.

I sense "lefty envy"

It doesn't say in his profile if he is a lefty or not. If he is then I retract my statement since he is bowling with the correct hand anyway.

I’m a skeptic on everything. They can post what the want on the patterns but that doesn’t mean that is what they put down.

Leftside – I’ve been called a lot of low, mean things but a lefty !!!!! That is the worst .

The great one

If you watch the round of 8 on the strike pass, you can hear baldo joke about the # of lefties the past couple of weeks. He made points made on here many times, lefties have less people, so their shot stays longer, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, Jeff Smith has 4 regional titles, so he's not a league hack.

That said, watching him on the tube yesterday, all I could think was, "This guy is on the show, and Parker didn't make the first cut.  What the hell is up with that???"

Parker better resolve whatever issues he's dealing with, and quick, or he might find himself on the outside looking in next year.  That would really suck (even if he is a lefty. )

Yep no hold at all on right yesterday!!!

I wonder if the type of oil changed.

Maybe Prodigy??  My observation and others on this site as this stuff changes fast!!!

There is a post on it somewhere!

Seems to me, if the pattern puts the same amount of oil, the same length
on both sides, it is only logical that the lefts will have an advantage
simply due to less play on their side.  Of course, if you are a lefty
that needs the lanes "to open up" in order to score, you may be at a
disadvantage.  Most of the crying seems to come from those of us who
don't compete on the Tour.

Pinbuster,

I know Jeff Smith personally and let me tell you the man can bowl. He has four PBA regional titles, numerous Central Bowlers Alliance titles, he's cashed at the ABC Masters and has shot many 800 series. I guess if you were making your first nationally televised finals you would have been rock solid and your nerves wouldn't have bothered you at all. RandyO on another thread ripped Jeff for not making any adjustments. I'm sure RandyO is a great bowler and would have walked through finals. Tough lane conditions and pressure of which neither of you have ever bowled under, I'm sure would not make any difference. It's easy to sit in your chair any say this guys not that good or I could do this or that but face it guys, Jeff led the tournament and I have never heard if either of you have ever done that!

All of the lefties that made the cut the last three weeks should thank me.
I started a topic after Council Bluff when the lefties had nothing.  The next week in KC, they had a pretty good look and at Hawthorn and this week, they had a real good look.

Believe me, they can tweek those patterns to favor either side.  I've bowl in Regionals where the lefties killed them and the next day in match play, on the "same shot" the lefties couldn't play dead.  Scroggs went from +400 in 8 games to +20 for 5 games.  Same shot?  NO WAY!

It will even out and if I was a lefty on tour, I wouldn't look for much this week.

Ricky Ward bowled good early, Jeff Smith, Scroggs, and Jason make the show.  Where was Parker?  It seems like every time Parker makes a show, he's playing the same shot and his break point is exactly the same.  Was the shot too deep for him?  This guys has to be able to play 10 doesn't he?
