Missy Parkin leaves 900 Global
« on: September 07, 2012, 07:05:46 PM »
I'm not sure if the announcement earlier this week by 900 Global played any role in this, but Missy Parkin has now signed a 4 brand contract with EBI.

Link:  http://eboniteinternational.com/news-events/story/ebonite_international_signs_parkin_to_four_brand_contract

In any case, Missy has shown she has a ton of talent and skill to win the big tournaments, and has done so.  She did a great job representing 900 Global, and will be a great addition to the EBI staff going forward.

I seen that earlier today on FB, and i am sure it somewhat had to do with her going to Ebonite....

On the flip side.... I also seen on FB that Robert Smith dropped his PBA card to stick with G900...

I've always liked Robert Smith.  He definitely made the shows fun to watch.  It's true that Robert decided to drop the card and stay with 900 Global.  The way he put it is that Eric and his staff have treated him like family and he wants to stick by them.  He also said the PBA currently is not worth bowling on since you make no money, the fees are worthless, and you have to pay a lot to travel around and compete.  That is a 100% class move all the way and he gets even more respect from me on top of what he already had.

Plus 1, Robert just tells it like it is, to bad the rest of the members on the PBA can't do the same.

Well, Robert has decided to move on,so he is free to speak his mind, the other members who are staying don't have that luxury. It's like quiting a job, and finally telling your boss to f#@$ Off.

Maybe if other PBA members spoke up like that, there would be change.  But then again, if they are willing to accept the conditions that are imposed as if nqow and don't want to change the situation themselves, that's on them.

If I'm not mistaken he is also 900G's Sales rep for the Asian market, and a national coach for an Asian country, regardless Robert did what he felt was best for him, and spoke his peace, kudos !!!!

yes i believe he is ...   And he also said it would look weird, when he is oversea's and has to explain why on TV he is throwing one company, but is sponsored by G900...

That would be similar to the Dick Weber Playoffs in 2010 when Steve Jaros was on 900G's staff, and then took a job that wouldn't allow him to be on staff.  That's how he threw Storm/RG later that same year.  But, then the summer shootout and he was throwing 900G again.  Who knows what he throws now.

Seems like every year or two the bowling ball companies play musical chairs.  Seems the same people work for different companies and just rotate.  In the old days you cared about who bowled for what company and the brand they represented.  During those times what won on Saturday sold on Monday.  Today the PBA doesn't tour.  They tape everything weeks in advance.  The fans are not interested anymore.  I watched the PBA during the summer and the presentation was rotten.  I believe the point was to just get the people still bowling the PBA and the ball company names out in the public eye.  It was really bad.  When it gets down to it.  Who really cares about the PBA anymore and ball companies need to find something better or do something.

She left not because she wanted to use EBI products over 900 Global products, but because 900 Global decided not to pay the extortion money to the PBA! If she wants to bowl PBA events she had to go with a company that doesn't mind be extorted!! Maybe these ball companies will wise up and send a message to the PBA masterminds that have destroyed the PBA to the point that nobody cares for it as much!! I like watching ESPN Classic and the older shows more, even though I already know who wins!!! Just my $.02, Bruce
P.S. I support what AMF/900 Global did and this is my opinion and not a representation of the beliefs of Brunswick!!

+1

What they require to use a product on their tour (to the sum of 200 grand) compared to the number of staff members and payouts for wins?  Totally not worth it.
