Mixed league rant...

So I subbed last night in a mixed league...Mostly drinkers, straight bowlers and a good team here and there..

Anyway on are pair we had 7 (total) straight plastic throwers...Right down the middle (pretty much, lol)

Check out this set:

262-135-132

First game everything was going great...After all that plastic moved the oil down, I was screwed !

Needless to say I will never sub in that, nor any mixed "fun" league !

Seems like I just tossed my $5 right out the window

Damn straight bowlers !

   Can i ask what a robo-arm bowler is?  Also bowling in a mixed league isnt for everyone and i am surprised that they had subs the one i bowl in with my wife is you roll off or you dont show that is it. I also bowl in a week night league that is serious, my mixed league is my form of practice.

Plus if you are subbing on someone else's team you kind of have to accept that they could have a way of doing things that is different from you.  When in Rome, figure out how to bowl with straight bowlers, right?

302efi-----I hope you are not a golfer. If the prevailing wind on your course is out of the south, you would either stay home or not have any fun if the wind happened to switch around to the west.

You only average 219 which by todays standards is not all that impressive.I think the way it sounds is that you think you are to good for that league.I am sure that league could care less if you came back.

Yea, that's it. If he came and subbed in my mixed league I wouldn't want him there either.  He's much too good for the rest of us recreational bowlers.  He should definitely look into turning Pro or something.  It's terrible him coming into our fun leagues just to take our money.

Robadat- He could't turn pro..... he won't bowl on anything but a THS.  Averaging 219 on a THS won't make you any money whether you bowl Regionals, PBA or anything else.

Didn't read the whole thread.  Too much crapola there.  I will ask, though, was playing the twig just out of the question?  I mean, when all else fails, grab a weakly drilled (or spare ball) and play up 2.  At least then you can get to the pocket and leave makeable spares.

Pin- You may want to read the other posts, he answers that question quite often.  It's actually pretty interesting.  All he wants to do is watch in hook across the lane.

I was being sarcastic.  Of course he couldn't turn Pro.  He said himself that he only will bowl on THS. And apparently, it has to be a clean one at that.

Nut, he said that he doesn't want to play the twig.  

I'm going to play devil's advocate on this one.  302 has made it very clear that he does not enjoy shooting low games.  Bowling on a fresh THS will allow him to stay away from that.  If he enjoys the game the way HE bowls it, who is anyone to put him down for it?  Does limiting yourself to only bowling on a fresh THS scream "I'm a pansy afraid to look bad"?  Well yes, it really does, but if 302 chooses to be that way, let it go.  He's enjoying the game his way, we enjoy it a different way.

Fresh THS, no second shift for him either.  He won't bowl on carrydown, woodlanes, cold weather, before noon on every other day of the week, moonlight, ........

Im the 180 on this one, i dont enjoy bowling with pretentious wannabe's that bowl on fresh THS and cant handle a late night scratch your head fest.  

I had more fun last night subbing in the second shift carry down crap "rainbow league".  Out practicing someone asks me to sub and bowl for free?  Count me in.   I had more fun playing cards and shooting 570.

302, if you want to suceed in tourny's, you should love that situation.  It's a good chance to practice things to don't regularly see, and you never know when you see a lane condition in a tourny that mimics what you saw.
