I'll have to buck the trend and say the Viper.  You might have to change your shot too much to score with plastic (core or not).  The Viper should give you a medium amount of friction and still give control with hit.

I`ll go with striders guess. The viper, it will give you a more honest read and still won`t mask mistakes. Also can be played on various conditions if the proper adjustments are made.
