need advice on mid price ball

Team member is wanting a new ball that is aggressive but not high price. He plays down and in with Hammer sling blade. Am going to suggest the Copperhead. Any other thoughts would be helpful.

I agree with the Raw Hammer series, you could easily make an arsenal out of them if you wanted to (hell, I almost did). The T-Road series is also a great mid-price line. Basically all "mid-price" lines are very good, just usually(please note, not always) lack the advanced high-mass bias balls that some people are in love with.

Anything from the Thunder Line by Storm.

The 3 balls in the line will cover any type of look you want, whether it be early, more in the midlane or something long and angular.

The Hy-Road and T-Road Solid are 2 of the best balls I've ever thrown

if you want a high performance ball at a low low price i would suggest trying to contact sales reps from a specific company. For example I just purchased an AMF Mega Friction for $85....



Again?  I wasn't referring to any company inparticular.  Most companies (take the vibes for example) will use covers from ghier priced balls and wrap them around simple cores.  It's not rocket science.

I agree with the Anger suggestion.  Drill in with a pin up 4- 5 inch pin to pap and you can get the ball to work on any condition by just changing the surface. 4000 abralon gets down the lane easy with a big backend.. 1000 abralon will be a nice smooth arch.. either one will hit great..
You can get the ball for cheap too.

And it's not the reason you think it is.  Lower prices means the cost to make the ball was lower, if I'm not mistaken.  Just because the cost is less doesn't make it any less good(generally speaking).  Some of the best balls people have thrown are cheaper than some of their least favorite equipment(myself included).

Mid price I consider less then $175 drilled via a pro shop not internet.  And the Cells and Black Widows, while fantastic balls are not mid priced.  This leaves the Hammer Raw series and the Brunswick BVP line (sidewinder, rattler etc...).  My preferance is for the Hammer series.

Todays Mid-priced ball is yesterdays High-end ball. It doesn't lose it's effectiveness just because it's at a lower price today. Realistically, how much can really be done with new core and coverstock formulations.

I have a Sidewinder, and found it to be much stronger than I was expecting for that price-point. A really good ball all round.

How about something from Roto's Shield or Sword line, such as a Pluto or Grand Illusion?  The Pluto is probably the best "cheap" oiler around, and the Grand Illusion uses a proven core and cover that can be easily tuned.

If the lanes you guys bowl on aren't really heavy oil, then go with the Storm Hy-Road.  Hybrid coverstock gives it nice length and smooth move off the spot.  Drives very hard through the pins.  I haven't left a single 10 pin in the 9 games I've put on it.
