Okay, I realize that this is being brought up again, BUT I can't help it, since I have seen so many questions from people that DO NOT ENTER PROFILES!!!  The first thing I do when I see a question that I may be able to give some insight to, is I click on "profile" to get an idea of the person (i.e. style, revs, PAP, age, experience, etc...).  Lately there have been a lot of questions from people that have not entered a profile, maybe because they do not realize it is there, they do not understand what they should put in one, or maybe because they are lazy.  I am sure that there are many here, with more experience than me, that feel it's too hard to give really accurate answers, without some understanding of an individual's profile.  Without a profile, most advice is pure specualtion.  Come on people, enter your profiles, or update old ones; I evaluate mine once a month, and please do NOT make stupid just to say you entered one.  There are several that are great examples to follow, if you are not sure what to put.  Just view several, and take bits and pieces form each, or create you own style, BUT just put a halfway decent one to start with.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have lots of people ask me about what ball would do this or what ball would work on this shot for me and I have to play 20 questions with them.

If you need to know what info to put in your profile, here's a start....

real name
age
years bowling
average
leagues per year
approximate ball speed...if you don;t know, equate yourself with someone on tour
rev rate...again, if you don't know, equate yourself with someone on tour or someone we may know

current arsenal

favorite shot to play...stand 20, throw 15 to 5 etc

perhaps hobbies or some more about yourself...serious or for fun bowler?

what state you live in

keep the personal accolades to a minimum. Bragging is ok if it can help us decipher your needs. IF you have averaged 220 for the last 4 years, ok good enough but the fact that you were the high averge in your league the last 4 years is not helping much.

A personal quote is always a nice touch too :-)

That is a great start for a profile...

Careful, Doug; you're starting to sound like a teacher making up a mid-term or final exam.
I think you're not going to get many people to put all that data in there. But, we've raised this several times before; they should put some of their bowling specifications.

I have to agree.  Profiles are only going to help out when we are trying to answer questions for other members.  Here is another question (only because I was guilty of this one).  How many people do a profile, then have that same profile sit there for a couple years without making any updates?  Let's say a member had 200 rpm a couple years ago, but now, that same person has doubled it due to any reason.  All of a sudden, we are making suggestions to a person based on a much lower rev rate when they in fact have a much higher one.  Next thing we know, all of our suggestions are wrong and we look like we have no idea what we are talking about.
